If CNN's chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin has bad news for former FBI Director James Comey you know it has to be real bad. Toobin delivered his bad news about Comey's leaked memos on Monday's The Lead which was hosted by Jim Sciutto. The news that Toobin presented might be enough for Comey to break out his worry beads: he placed himself in a "pretty vulnerable position" by leaking them.

And the sad news for Toobin is that by Comey's own admission he leaked the memos for the specific purpose of getting a Special Counsel appointed as you will see in the story.

I’m still amazed that Comey admittedly leaked classified material to his friend so that his friend would leak them to deep state media in order to facilitate the appointment of a gumshoe like Mueller to unconstitutionally try to hound a duly elected chief executive from office.

Comey ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I don’t understand how leaking them contributed to getting Spec Counsel appointed.

How did it?

“And the sad news for Toobin is that by Comey’s own admission he leaked the memos for the specific purpose of getting a Special Counsel appointed as you will see in the story.”

And the sad news for Democrats is a leaked memo by Comey which kicked off the need for a special prosecutor is enough for the Trump administration to shut the investigation down and bring Mueller and Comey up on conspiracy charges. The answer that will keep both of them out of prison is, “who gave you the orders to go down this path?” That person could then be charged with sedition.

But Trey Gowdy says that there’s no way he will be committed of any crime...

Amazing...

Thank you for asking and I sure hope someone answers. It seems I went to work and came back and boom! Special counsel. After eight years of Obama’s crimes and Trump gets a special counsel in few hours because someone who is already fired asked for it!? All I could think was Valerie Plame, here we go. Does anyone remember how serious the press took the Valerie Plame ordeal?

Isn’t Try Gowdie the congressman who’s cashing out from his position this year?

I’m sure he’ll be well compensated for his efforts.

Just like Lyin Ryan will be too.

More incentive for Comey to cooperate with fingering Brennan, Clapper and Lynch...

“how did the leaked memo kick of the need for a spec counsel?”

Start here. There are numerous articles about it.

Comey said in Senate testimony that that is the reason he leaked them to the press through the friend. Comey said that’s why he leaked. Look it up.

It is simply a matter of engaging the outrage-generating machine of the press, by giving them an excuse to publish the dirty report’s contentions, I guess, an absolute admission that the press is part of the deep state.

.....by Comey’s own admission he leaked classified FBI memos for the specific purpose of getting a Special Counsel appointed.....
enough for the Trump administration to shut the investigation down and bring Mueller and Comey up on conspiracy charges.......

You conclude:The answer that will keep both of them out of prison is, “who gave you the orders to go down this path?”
That person could then be charged with sedition.

Except I surmise its not just one person that put Comey up to this.

Well that link gives 404 but I can only find things like "I asked a friend of mine to share the content of a memo with the reporter, I didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons, but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel," Comey said.

I can't find WHY his memos might prompt a SC though. What's in them that he claims is SC worthy?

Yeah I know he said it - i just wonder why leaking them would ever lead to a SC? What’s in the memo(s) that did that?

“I don’t understand how leaking them contributed to getting Spec Counsel appointed.

I would think it provided a foundation, a pretext for the starting the investigation. They were saying “there’s something there with respect to Trump and Russia.”

Where is RosenWeasel's memo to himself regarding all of the evidence/info he used to determine that he needed to appoint a SC?
