From what Kyle said, they detained him unlawfully. And if so, “interrogated” is the right word. Kyle should look into suing. Hopefully, some legal support will pour his way for that after the publicity.

Then a third officer from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office walked in, and began asking me the same questions again. At that point, I asked whether I could record the interview. They said no. I asked if I had done anything wrong. Again, they answered no. I asked why I was there. One said, “Don’t get snappy with me, do you not remember what happened here a few months ago?”

That would have been the perfect time to remind him that what happened was due to the failure of Scot Peterson to do his job and the failure of BSD to do anything after numerous visits to the shooter's house.

Does that also apply to government employees who are performing public duties? Normally courts find an exception for that.

This was an arrest. Courts have ruled that custody plus questioning equals arrest. He can and should sue for false arrest.
