Kyle Kashuv is a Parkland student who, just like Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg, was at Douglas High School the day Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 of his classmates. Unlike Gonzalez and Hogg and many other Douglas survivors, Kashuv has been a lone, persistent student voice in favor of gun rights and the Second Amendment.
Despite his support for the right to keep and bear arms, Kashuv didn’t own a firearm and had never fired one. That changed over the weekend when he went to a range with his father. He tweeted stills and video of the range session.
As night follows day, he was attacked on line for daring to fire an AR in a safe and controlled manner. Kashuv no doubt expected the reaction and shrugged it off.
But today, as the Daily Wire reports, when he returned to class, he was informed by Douglas High’s principal that his range tweets had traumatized some of his fellow students. And the reaction didn’t end there.
Kashuv was later pulled out of class and interrogated by two school resource officers, Broward County deputies.
Near the end of third period, my teacher got a call from the office saying I need to go down and see a Mr. Greenleaf. I didn’t know Mr. Greenleaf, but it turned out that he was an armed school resource officer. I went down and found him, and he escorted me to his office. Then a second security officer walked in and sat behind me. Both began questioning me intensely. First, they began berating my tweet, although neither of them had read it; then they began aggressively asking questions about who I went to the range with, whose gun we used, about my father, etc. They were incredibly condescending and rude.
Then a third officer from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office walked in, and began asking me the same questions again. At that point, I asked whether I could record the interview. They said no. I asked if I had done anything wrong. Again, they answered no. I asked why I was there. One said, “Don’t get snappy with me, do you not remember what happened here a few months ago?”
They continued to question me aggressively, though they could cite nothing I had done wrong. They kept calling me “the pro-Second Amendment kid.” I was shocked and honestly, scared. It definitely felt like they were attempting to intimidate me.
I was treated like a criminal for no reason other than having gone to the gun range and posted on social media about it.
Kashuv has criticized the Broward County Sheriff and his band of incompetent men on Face the Nation for their lack of action regarding Cruz leading up to the Parkland shooting and the school resource officer’s cowardly behavior during the shooting. Observers seeing the Broward deputies’ interrogation of Kashuv today might conclude that sweating him was simply retaliation for his nationally broadcast statements, but we couldn’t possibly comment.
If only any of Sheriff Scott Israel’s disinterested deputies had spent half as much time investigating Nikolas Cruz’s extra-curricular activities, a student with a long and demonstrated history of violence and criminal behavior on the Douglas High campus. Who knows how many lives might have been saved?

Teach your children: “Mr. Principal/Resource officer, I am happy to answer your questions and help in your investigation, but, alas, I am a minor. I demand that either my parent(s) or family attorney be present for any questioning”. Until then, name, rank, student number.
On his walk down to meet Mr. Greenleaf, he should have been on his cell phone to his father asking him to get a lawyer and come to school on the double. Furthermore, I would have told these “officers,” that there would be no Q&A until a parent and a lawyer were present. I just hop he’s got a lawyer now.
Sadly, Mr. Kashuv needs to do what everyone should do when asked to be interviewed by the police - say nothing other than "I don't answer questions without the advice of counsel, if you want to arrange a meeting I'll retain counsel and you can speak with him or her." And then "Am I free to go now?" And then if they don't say yes don't say anything but politely identify yourself and provide an ID if asked.
Mr. Kashuv should retain counsel for specific advice, and perhaps the next time the school singles him out he should call his attorney before or while anyone from the school is trying to talk to him.

Real simple solution:
Gather the necessary signatures and force a recall vote of Sheriff Scott Israel.

Cops are legally able to lie to you, but not you to them.

......most of the cops from the cities are solid
Thanks to the Federalization of education, both the parents and the child forfeit many of their Civil Rights.
One only has those Rights that the local, state and federal “Education” officials allow you to have.
They can interrogate and “counsel” children in pre-K all the way through graduation without a parents knowledge or presence.
You can’t send your kid to school with an aspirin, yet they can arrange for a young girl to have an abortion without the parents knowledge.

As my posting record would illustrate, I generally support “the cops”............at least more often than not.
But, assuming this story about this kid and these cops is accurate, it makes for a glaring example of what cop critics claim is a so called “cop mentality” that takes over some of these guys with a badge and a gun.
Shooting pet dogs comes to mind. Shooting Lavoy. Ruby Ridge and on and on endlessly. In this never ending process, these acts shrink the polls of “general support” of the public nationally another point or two.
Good cops, that are also prominent cops, like Sheriff’s and Chiefs of Police, are the only humans alive that can turn this dynamic around. They need to speak up loudly and often AGAINST this type of “cop mentality”.
I think too that this particular situation MAY run real close to violating this kids civil rights.
But we’re supposed to turn in our AR-15’s “for the children”.
These bullying creeps are the reason citizens are arming up and don’t trust the police anymore.
I’ll be interested in reading what the father has to say about this.
ALWAYS RECORD BREVARD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND ESPECIALLY THAT LIAR ISRAEL.
If arrested do NOT say anything until you have a lawyer present.
If BCSO wants to play, tell them to FOAD until your lawyer gets there.
Sorry but you don’t understand the mentality of the majority in Broward county....most would like this fine American sent to jail.
