Police chiefs implore Congress not to pass concealed-carry reciprocity gun law

The nation's police chiefs are rising up against another conservative crime-fighting initiative, sending a letter to leaders of Congress on Thursday opposing a bill that would allow gun owners with concealed-carry permits in one state to carry their concealed weapons in all 50 states.

The letter from the International Association of Chiefs of Police, representing 18,000 police departments across the United States, and Boston Police Commissioner William Evans targets the "Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act," which passed the House in December and is now assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The letter is endorsed by 473 police officials from 39 states, from large departments such as Los Angeles and Atlanta to small departments such as Spanish Fork, Utah, and Falls Church, Virginia.

Any Federal training or requirements would be a bad thing.

It would also be an infringement. The moonbats already want Freedom of Speech training.

Who needs to carry when you can depend on a police chief to be right there when you need him?

Doesn’t apply to me.

I have a “Permit To Carry”.

“Texans for one will be safer when visiting progressive Hell Holes with this.”

You mean like Houston, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio? “Texas has some $hit Holes In It!” I can hear Dolly Parton Singing those words real clear!

“If it’s good enough for drivers licenses and marriages, it’s good enough for concealed-carry permits.”

Very true, only you can’t “conceal” your car! Smart Cars are close though!

Funny how the 2nd Amendment is the only Constitutional right that local punks in various places are able to deny to law abiding US citizens. One example is my home state,Massachusetts.

A year or two ago SCOTUS reviewed a case from the Gay State called "Caetano v Massachusetts".It was a state law that violated 2nd Amendment rights and it was stuck down 9-0.Even BillyBob's and Obola's appointees agreed. In the decision it was stated that the Massachusetts Supreme Court's decision to uphold the law was "frivolous".

Yep, Politically Appointed Chiefs and such from Democratically controlled S-Holes.

Compare that the the National Sheriffs stance, and then take the political bias out by location.

I say all the time, grab your freedom while you can.

Once they issue a license its hard to walk back.

Walk up in bad times and ask the state permesso? that could get ugly..

Liberals have infiltrated all levels of our government. We must understand that many people associated with enforcing laws (politicians, lawyers and even policeman) are tried and truth leftists who have no problem bashing your brains in to get their way. They are the enemy of a free people.

This not only needs to be passed, the Supreme Court needs to strike down many of the gun grabbing restrictions in many states and furthermore EVERY state should be required to be a “WILL ISSUE” state instead of may issue.

My wife and I lived in Dallas for 13 weeks while I was undergoing training for a Civil Service job.

We lived in an area which had once been a solid middle to upper middle class neighborhood. It was just beginning to turn into a Hippie community. We belonged to North Dallas Baptist Church which was a great church. It was in the neighborhood of Turtle Creek.

I really liked Dallas and San Antonio and San Marcos but suspect I would not care for them today.

Every one of these police people who have signed this is a domestic enemy of the Constitution. Every. Single. One.

” based on equivalency “

And it seems to me that regime would have to be replaced by a federal standard. A fed law that required equivalent reciprocity wouldn’t help and wouldn’t reduce confusion.

There would still be state permits that weren’t federally recognized.

Thanks for the reply. As I said, I’m not up on this subject.

Am I reading this right? 473 “police officials” from 18,000 departments favor gun control, is that it?

Even if there were only one “police official” in each of those 18,000 departments, that would mean that gun grabbers were outnumbered 17,527 to one.

And what does “police official” mean? 20-something girls in HR?

“I really liked Dallas and San Antonio and San Marcos but suspect I would not care for them today.”

With very few exceptions, no place is as good as it once was, because the caliber of our citizens has deteriorated since we were kids.

Years ago I never worried about this ****
You walk into a Shriners hall in Ca, plunk down $150 and they hand you an M1 carbine.

When I was a kid if you could get cash on the counter they would sell you a shotgun at the Western Auto.

Its all shifting now and I don’t like it at all.
