I am in non-urban Georgia and I have to admit being one of the people you described.
Our state has passed medical cannabis allowances each year. A very close family member benefited before passing away from cancer. That is what swayed my position.
I then studied the issue at UGA Law and have advocated for rescheduling at least so it can be offered to others in similar circumstances. People see the kids in Georgia overcoming some of the most severe symptoms of various diseases. They are no longer focusing on the hippies. I heard Laura Ingraham bloviating last week about this topic and just thought how ignorant she sounded.
Good news. Even my most conservative friends have come to agree there are some attributes which might be positive and we should study them further.
I have spoken to several Congress Creatures and the only thing they seem concerned with now is a method to measure for DUI’s. They are recognized that the CSA was an overreach.
Look at Speaker Boehner. He jumped on the rescheduling bandwagon this week along with Senator Schumer.

Why buy/smoke dirt weed when good weed is around?

No, skunk weed has been around since the 80’s that I know of, though I’m sure it was around prior to my knowledge of it.
It refers to a particularly stinky weed. It reeks. In a very good way.
You know it as soon as you smoke it, because it doesn’t smell like any other weed, and it’s quite potent.
In terms of recent, high THC varieties, the only one I cam across that qualifies as skunk weed was what I referred to as California purple weed. Literally purple. I recall that it is generally Humboldt County outdo, as the brothers say. Just the smell of it alone will knock you out, you don’t ven need to smoke it. You can smell it from a mile away while it is not even being smoked and is in multiple plastics bags or even vacuum sealed.
Then what happens when they are unemployable due their usage. Should I be forced to pay for their welfare, or do we just let them starve?
Many older studies of various kinds showed that brain cells are not replaced or regenerated after adolescence.
Claims from rat and mouse research to argue against the older knowledge was published in more recent reports for corporations trying to offer ways for some extremely wealthy customers to stop aging. Problem is, we’re not rats or mice. Our brains are different.

No, that is the old definition. The article itself cites the current usage: “Almost all cannabis on Britain’s streets is skunk, which is four times more powerful than types that dominated the market until the early 2000s. It can even trigger hallucinations.”

As a recovered alcoholic, I learned that about ten percent of people that drink will become problematic because of said consumption.
Call them alcoholics, call them problem drinkers. But the only known treatment for such people, is abstinence. Not to drink.
I believe the same is likely true for Marijuana, and possibly other relatively mild drugs.
One of my father’s few regrets was giving me drinks as a teen. I liked it and started sneaking it from day one, age 15-16.
Now 24+ years clean and sober, thank God.
None of the heritage strains had THC percentage in the 20s.
And the concentrates legally available in some states now with THC in the 70-80s are crazy. Should NOT be legal, IMO.
Simple answer is let them starve.
A person must learn what is necessary in this world to survive, and in that is how to balance one’s wants with one’s needs.
If a person decides that getting high is superior to eating, then he will starve, but I suppose he will starve with a grin on his face.

And all weed can and does trigger hallucinations, because THC is an hallucinogenic, although THC induced hallucination, when the drug is smoked, is not nearly as intense as, say, LSD or mushrooms. However, when ingested, THC can come very close to what an LSD trip is.
A neighbor of mine, ROTC and college bound, got addicted to marijuana. Now he is diagnosed psychotic and schizophrenic.Can’t hold a job wanders from homeless shelter to homeless shelter.

If it isn’t addictive don’t admit any pot smoking related case to any emergency room. they’re too overcrowded in most cases. No need to spend taxpayer or insurance money on something that is not addictive.

But yeah, I’ll agree that smoking pot all day long for a bunch of years isn’t good for you at all. It’s a very stupid thing to do.
