Developing: California Pushes Bill That Appears To Ban Sale of Bibles

A new California pro-LGBTQ bill that would ban the sale or distribution of materials related to “conversion therapy” easily passed the state’s assembly on Thursday.

CBS News affiliate KOVR reported the final tally was 50-14. Assembly Bill 2943 now heads to the Democrat-controlled Senate.

The bill would make it an unlawful business practice to engage in any “transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer” aimed at “sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.”

Goods would include any books or written materials, while services would encompass counseling individuals seeking to address same-sex attractions.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “One key part of the debate centers on whether Assembly Bill 2943 would stretch beyond businesses that charge for (conversion) programs and extend to printed documents, even Bibles.”

The complete bill is available at the link in the excerpt of the article, entitled: "Assembly Bill 2943"

Just when you think CA cannot become more insane, the ComDems think of another assault on reality.

This is not a casual thought by the left, look at the detail and the length of the bill. They fully intend to implement this. It is clearly unconstitutional, but remember, the 9th Circus is the review route.

May God Help the U.S.A.

The bill starts out with a fabrication:

“Contemporary science recognizes that being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender is part of the natural spectrum of human identity and is not a disease, disorder, or illness”

Utter nonsense.

They do realize there is something called the constitution, don't they?

But then again, the government doesn't allow preachers to endorse political candidates. How does that fly? How come no wise latinas have ever sorted that out?

We’re headed back to the idea of a unitary state in which the government tells you what ideas are approved for belief, and which are heresy and will be subject to punishment.

Use this to push the LGBTQ indoctrination out of the schools. What’s good for the goose...

CA statehood needs to be revoked. And all sharp objects removed from the state.

Does the Koran get a pass?

If it results in a ban on Bible sales even from a general book store like a Barnes & Noble, that would right there make the law a violation for the First Amendment right of free speech.

There is a corollary that can be derived from Romans 1:18-32 and it is that those who are being turned over to depraved minds may in fact irrationally loathe /hate anyone or anything that stands in the way of their unclean advocacy of evil.

This would be as true, possibly even more so, of those who are championing perversions even though they may not be trading in them personally. I reason this to be a possiblility because they ultimately have less dog in the hunt and their pervert friends but there they are still there in the same fix.

This is a dangerous bill.

The left says how open and tolerant they are, they eschew censorship, etc.

And there are people who struggle with sexual behavior or identity issues. Not everyone with same sex attraction is happy or gay, gay according to the dictionary definition. How can anyone want to ban information or treatment if someone wants to deal with a problem area in their lives?

These leftists would want all the information and treatment options available for any other condition. But if the condition is homosexuality and dealing with same then the left considers that a taboo subject.

And with the stranglehold the left has on the California government, they can pass ill advised laws.

I’d guess the Koran offers the most effective method of gay conversion therapy of all the world’s religions.

“If it results in a ban on Bible sales even from a general book store like a Barnes & Noble”

How soon will it be before a major book retailer issues a statement that they will no longer sell the bible in their California stores?

The boycott blow-back would be epic.

Might take some more time since it will be up to the churches to give them out.

“the government doesn’t allow preachers to endorse political candidate”

I think the government won’t allow a “church” to be tax exempt if they preach politics. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Speaking of gayness and whether it’s in your DNA or not, what’s the prevailing wisdom on the origin of left-handedness in a person.
