Study: Nearly 1 in 4 children has at least one immigrant parent

By John Bowden - 04/18/18 03:32 PM EDT

One in 4 children living in the U.S. in 2016 had at least one parent who was born outside the U.S., according to a study released Wednesday.

A Kaiser Family Foundation survey found that about 20 million children living in the U.S. in 2016, or about 23 percent, had at least one parent who immigrated to the U.S. Most of those children, 89 percent, are citizens of the U.S. themselves, the study adds.

More half of those children live in just four states: California (23 percent), Texas (13 percent), New York (8 percent) and Florida (8 percent), according to the study.

A common theme for families with at least one immigrant parent is the family looking for affordable health care, the survey shows.

About 8 million of the roughly 20 million children living with an immigrant parent were covered under either Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

The study states that cuts to CHIP or Medicaid would "increase the uninsured rate among immigrant families, negatively affecting the financial stability of families and the growth and healthy development of their children."

Legal or illegal?

Funny how they never bother to mention that little detail.

Almost half

BTW: Don't ask them if they are a citizen as a census question

If mankind doesn’t live where the garden of Eden used to be, then they’re all immigrants- no such thing as ‘native so and so’- (Except for those still living where man first appeared at creation)

While the parents of the other three are saddled with crippling health insurance costs, for federally mandated policies, that they can’t afford to use due to extortion rate deductibles.

Maybe we should just take over mexico, and pillage their land, so we can at least make our money back.

An unintended consequence of that would be that all of those illegals, would no longer be illegals. They would be subject to the same government sponsored financial flogging that all of us gringos up here in del norte have been subjected to.

Of course the leftist socialist-democrats would be violently oppposed to this, along with their fellow violent socialist brethren in mexico.

Got you beat. I am a LEGAL immigrant child of two LEGAL immigrant parents. More Mercan than anyone I know except one formerly active duty special forces sniper. That dude could whip your ass in church and everyone would applaud and want to shake his hand and buy him a beer.

How many children are living with both biological parents?
How many households with multiple children share both biological parents?
How many households with children are receiving taxpayer largess? How many receive taxpayer provided food? Medical care? Housing? Education? Transportation? Communication?
How much of the taxpayer largess does the Kaiser foundation collect?!

What’s the parent/s legal status?

Popping out anchor babies should be illegal. Deport the entire family.

Melania Trump is the first immigrant to reside at the White House, unless you count Louisa Catherine Johnson Adams as an immigrant. She was born abroad to parents who were both US citizens.
