She only went back as far as 1982, so that leaves out the original The Thing, an all-time classic IMO. Here is the list:

10. Galaxy Quest (1999)
9. Men in Black (1997)
8. Contact (1997)
7. Independence Day (1996)
6. Arrival (2016)
5. Avatar (2009)
4. Enemy Mine (1985)
3. Starman (1984)
2. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
1. Aliens (1986)

‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’, ‘This Island Earth’, ‘Earth vs. The Flying Saucers’, and of course - ‘The Attack of The 50Ft. Woman’.

So many other classics.

The Fifth Element!

Loud and on a big home theater screen it is the best!

Maybe the plot has a few holes in it but the visuals are fantastic!

I thought Aliens was a lousy movie.

For the first 15 minutes it had me entranced then sort of just fell apart.

I vaguely remember one from my childhood which was probably not as good as I thought but at the time it was great. It was something like “Saucer Men” and they killed by injecting pure alcohol. Another great one was “Invaders From Mars”.

Also could not stand E.T.

"3. Starman (1984)"

If I remember correctly (and there is no guarantee of that, these days), Starman would also qualify as a chick-flick...???

As an INTP according to the Briggs/Myers personality test, I should be a big fan of Sci-fi. A trekie etc...

I’m not.

I do enjoy Sci-Fi, but it has to be at least possible.

There are very few science fiction movies that are done in a way that sparks any interest.
