Western eyes can use that reasoning but that may not be the reasoning on the ground in Syria. There may have been a reason.

It doesn't matter if Assad did it or not; it's a lose-lose proposition for the U.S. If we attack Syria we once again strengthen ISIS. Not to mention the fact that we risk a major conflict with Russia and Iran. Nothing positive can come out of this, especially since Trump is right in the middle of a domestic coup d’etat.
