Gov. Kim Reynolds signed 17 bills into law Tuesday, including controversial legislation to impose financial sanctions against local governments that fail to cooperate with federal officials in enforcing immigration laws in Iowa. Senate File 481 will require law enforcement agencies to comply with federal immigration detainer requests for people in their custody under policies to be in effect by next Jan. 1. In addition, the legislation prohibits local governments from discouraging their enforcement officers or others from activities related to enforcing immigration laws.

The legislation imposes financial sanctions against local governments that backers say are providing sanctuary to potentially illegal immigrants rather than cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in enforcing federal laws in Iowa Backers say the legislation was enacted to address situations that arise when federal immigration officials believe someone in custody is in the country illegally and subject to deportation...

One form of amnesty I would support is to give them all one way bus tickets to LA if they turn themselves in by a reasonable date.

“One form of amnesty I would support is to give them all one way bus tickets to LA.”

Or why not just send them to Philadelphia? It’s closer and it’s as big a $hit hole as is Los Angeles. You live in a “glass house state,” you should not be throwing rocks. At least Los Angeles does have a number of areas that are very nice, unlike Philly. The old elegant neighborhoods in Philadelphia are pretty much a thing of the past.

Yeah but Iowa is still one of those suing about the census :

Bureau of the Census plaintiffs include:
New York,
Connecticut,
Delaware,
Illinois,
Iowa,
Maryland,
Massachusetts,
Minnesota,
New Jersey,
New Mexico,
North Carolina,
Oregon,
Pennsylvania,
Rhode Island,
Virginia,
Vermont,
Washington,
the District of Columbia,
New York City,
Chicago,
Philadelphia,
Rhode Island,
San Francisco,
Seattle and
Providence, Rhode Island.

She needs to remove Iowa from that lawsuit.

Because Pennsylvania is the state which put Trump over 270, even with Philadelphia.

“Because Pennsylvania is the state which put Trump over 270, even with Philadelphia.”

Nonsense! It was simply one state among many who did that! PA was no more responsible than any one of the others. But thanks for your contribution, it’s surely a lot more than California did, despite the fact that it contributed more raw votes for Trump than did PA.

Why is it that suddenly in America people who break the law but happen to hold office aren’t ARRESTED?

Democrat Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller, first elected 40 years ago, is the one who supported that lawsuit.

Isn’t it amazing how the upholding of law is deemed “controversial”. These sanctuary loving morons don’t even deny they are breaking numerous laws by giving “sanctuary”. They flaunt it. Feelings don’t usurp American law and to make Americans second class to illegals is disgusting.

How ‘bout arrest and prosecute (harboring, aiding/abetting,...) any/all govt instead of farking the Citizens and taxpayers?

We need to focus on state elections this cycle, they are the most important battle fields they will control congress and the electoral cottage in 2020.

Never mind Washington focus upon state and particular school board elections.

Iowa is not exactly a bastion of conservatism. It voted for Ozero twice. I imagine it is a lot like a few other states in that one big liberal city (Des Moines) is swinging the state toward the left.
