Assurance clears the way for a summit meeting between Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump
North Korea has told the U.S. that Kim Jong Un is prepared to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, clearing the way for a summit meeting between the North Korean leader and President Donald Trump, according to U.S. officials.
U.S. officials didnt say when and how that assurance was delivered, but U.S. and North Korean officials have been in communication.
The U.S. has confirmed that Kim Jong Un is willing to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, a Trump administration official said on Sunday.
Hopes for a breakthrough that might end more than six decades of animosity on the Korean Peninsula were raised last month when South Korean national security adviser, Chung Eui-yong, told the White House that North Korea was prepared to engage in talks on denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and would refrain from nuclear and missile tests.

I’m sure Obama will get the credit, somehow.
redux ad nauseum
Wow...it took 70 years and 11 Presidents to get even this far.
Thank You, President Trump!
Anybody who places any credence in them just imply because Trump happens to be president at the present time, is sorely misled and overly optimistic.
Fact. They are ALWAYS ready to talk prior to every shakedown engagement or diplomatic waste-of-time. This one is no different. Short of war, or coup, KJU assassination, or total economic collapse, they will not willingly give up nukes! Never!

I’m afraid I agree with you; but my money’s on ‘total economic collapse’.
He negotiated demilitarization with Clinton who, in return, gave him huge chunk of money and necessary equipment to build “non-military” plants.
NK’s power and defiance comes from powers other than itself. Ask yourself how a tiny poor country like NK can have had so much leverage over the U.S. for so long? Take away the powers pulling the strings and you’re left with a vulnerable, isolated country that has no leverage. When that happens, the defiance withers away to be replaced with a desire for nothing more than preservation. That’s why things are different this time.
Figured he wouldn’t have even talked about a meeting unless denuclearization was assured.
What does NK get?
Probably removed sanctions, investment, and acceptance of a permanent partition of Korea.
Major amazing news! Can you imagine the splodey heads if Trump pulls this off?!?
Only a serious pessimist could look at this and be, well, pessimistic lol. Of course, the perpetually grumpy schleprock crowd will be...uh...grumpy.
MAGA!!!!
it took 70 years and 11 Presidents to book a meeting with the leader of DPRK.
Reruns.
Fool me once thing ,I think , how many times would this make ,LOL
However, China is tired of having to cover for them. NK is not that useful to them anymore.
But with Trump around, you never know what’s going to happen. The future is impossible to predict. Stay tuned.
Thank You, President Trump!
Hardly. The Clinton Nuclear Deal with Pyongyang: Road Map to Progress or Dead End Street?
This is nothing they haven't pulled before. The question is whether the outcome this time will be different.
yes or no ....willing or un ?
Hasn't been booked yet.
