Johns Hopkins studies effects of DMT, including encounters with ‘autonomous beings’
WASHINGTON – It’s one of the most popular new hallucinogenic drugs being smoked by young people around the world, with many users reporting “spiritual encounters” with entities that sound a lot like demons.
And now, Johns Hopkins University is studying the alarming effects of DMT, or Dimethyltryptamine, asking volunteers who have taken the drug about encounters they may have had with “seemingly autonomous beings or entities.”
One researcher characterized DMT as a “spirit molecule.”
So bizarre are the effects that users have described crossing into another world and seeing “machine elves,” aliens or cartoon cats. One woman reported being swarmed by apparently alive Slinky toys.
The research team is headed by Roland Griffiths, a behavioral biologist with a history of studying psychedelic substances that produce “mystical-type and near-death experiences.”

I’ve had my day of dabbling in things I shouldn’t have, and DMT isn’t new. However, such experiences can also be found via lucid dreaming also. It’s as several have already described, demonic. Those “spirit guides” are guiding you alright, but you won’t like where you end up. Leave it alone, reality is beautiful enough and the God of Abraham and Isaac, of the Bible, and His Son, are mystical enough. Leave it alone. Really, leave it alone.
That is exactly what i was thinking....i knew some guys in thr mid 80s who got hold of what was supposed to be stp ...and they were out of it for days from what i heard and i dont think any of them ever did psychedelics again
There are gentler ways of doing that and not all involve drugs. Try to understand just what it is you’re yearning to experience. God?
If I eat food with too much MSG, I have really intense, bizarre, dreams. Anything spicy doubles the effect.
