White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will take President Trump's place at the White House Correspondents Association annual dinner.

Why it matters: Trump would have had to share the stage with the journalists receiving awards including ones from what he's called on Twitter the "failing" New York Times, and "Fake News" CNN. "The White House has informed us that the president does not plan to participate in this year's dinner but that he will actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend and join us as we celebrate the First Amendment. In keeping with tradition, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders also will represent the administration at the head table. The April 28 dinner celebrates award-winning reporting, scholarship winners and the vital role of the First Amendment and the free press in American democracy."

— WHCA President Margaret Talev

Sanders needs to stay away also. They will only insult her.
No one from the admin school attend.

I say discontinue the whole thing. if they want a “correspondents dinner” fine, keep the White House out of it.

Total buffoonery anyway.

He should attend. Ask to speak first, and then just talk until they all go home. Ummmm ...... like a senate fillabuster.

No reason to go, the Ministry of Propaganda can hold their self-congratulatory events without him.

Why is Sarah going? She doesn’t need to sit there and be insulted by the media trash.

Good. I don’t even know why Sanders is going. They should all just ignore the event completely.

Trump (or any president) can’t cancel them. The dinner is put on by a private organization, The White House Correspondents’ Assn (or some such).

If it’s out, Trump should hold a rally during their dinner and read the IG report aloud. It would screw the whole thing up.

I totally agree with your suggestion.

President Trump ought to hold a rally in MI, or another of the key states he carried, as he did last year in PA.

POTUS should indeed divert all attention away from those insufferable fools and bask in the adoration of his fellow deplorables!!!

We don’t have a free press with the msm. We have a bought and paid for ‘press’ that is nothing more than a propaganda machine.
