Saudi Crown Prince Says U.S. Troops Should Stay in Syria

Mohammed bin Salman wants the U.S. military to maintain a presence in Syria, despite President Donald Trump’s declaration that American forces will be pulled from the war-torn country in the near future.

“We believe American troops should stay for at least the mid-term, if not the long-term,” he told TIME Thursday in a wide-ranging interview.

Bin Salman said the American troop presence inside Syria is the last effort stopping Iran, Saudi Arabia’s arch-enemy, from continuing to expand influence with regional allies. U.S. forces inside the country also allow Washington to have a say in Syria’s future, he said.

Iran, through proxy militias and regional allies, will establish a overland supply route that leads from Beirut through Syria and Iraq to Tehran, Bin Salman said. The so-called “Shiite Crescent” would give Iran a greater foothold in a tumultuous region through a string of allies.

The U.S. maintains a remote base at Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria, in the middle of that corridor. It’s there that Special Operations forces coordinate with Syrian opposition fighters to wipe out the remaining ISIS fighters holed up in a series of towns along the Euphrates River and a stretch of desert straddling the Iraq-Syria border.

“If you take those troops out from east Syria, you will lose that checkpoint,” bin Salman said. “And this corridor could create a lot of things in the region.”

The Saudi leader made his remarks on Syria just hours after Trump told a cheering crowd in Richfield, Ohio that U.S. troops will soon be pulled out. “By the way, we’re knocking the hell out of ISIS,” Trump said. “We’re coming out of Syria very soon. Let the other people take care of it now, very soon. Very soon, we’re coming out.”

Sorry, bin Salami ... Donald Trump is president today because Americans are sick and tired of living in a country with a Saudi-owned government. People like you are a big reason why Jeb Bush was less popular than a child molester among GOP primary voters.

SA needs to absorb the Arabs claiming to be “Palestinians” and control its own geography.

The US needs to stay out of the ME unless to take down Iran.

Talk of withdrawal was probably a negotiating tactic, to get the Saudis to pay the bill - so Trump can use the money that is freed up to build wall in Texas.

Got a better idea.
Why don’t Saudi troops move and do the work?

It remains to be seen if Trump will follow through on his commitment to end US operations in Syria...I am not optimistic that he will.

Random American says, "Trump should NUKE the city of Makkah, and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

Randonm American thinks this would be best for the short-term, mid-term, and especially long term peace and security of the United States of America, but also Isreal and most of the other countries on the planet, whether they like it or not.

Anybody know how many troops from SA are in Syria?

Considering the stratergy involved, shouldn’t they be supplying the majority?

THIS is the way to do it- When they beg us to stay, then maybe... What kind of money are they going to kick in to pay for it?

Saudi Arabia was an invention of globalists, founded in January 1926. In the aftermath of WW1, globalists who wanted to re-arrange the world handed a huge piece of ME geography to one family. They've always been part of the globalist scheme and not very good to their neighbors. Starting with George 1, US administrations have been with them. Of course they want us in Syria. The Saudis do not want a strong Syria that challenges their expansionism.

US troops are definitely an invasion force in Syria. They're a sovereign nation. Our excuse for being their was to degrade ISIS, the creation of our globalist buddies and Obama/hillary polices.

We should get out of there and out of Afghanistan. Today's news is a caravan of mostly male Central American males being allowed to travel through Mexico to storm our southern border. That's where the troops should be.

JMHO

His stated reason was for us to help his side Prevail in a sunni-shiite feud. The fact is Isis is a Sunni movement. Muslim Brotherhood is a Sunni movement. Most terrorism in the world is Sunni. This is not America’s fight

Syria is not a province of Saudi Arabia
The Prince is not making our foreign policy
If we stay Syrians are going to start killing us and we killing them
In their country where we have no legal status to be there
No. Not ISIS that was our stated mission
A newly forming Syrian resistance dedicated to driving us off their oil fields
We will become a lightning rod for fighters against western occupatiin
Gee sound familiar?

There are currently about 2,000 U.S. troops working with Syrian Democratic Forces to re-capture territory from ISIS,

And how many Saudi troops? If it was in the article I missed it.

America should not be allied with the Saudi Al Qaeda in Syria and every day our military operates in the that country is a day that the kind of people who perped 9/11 are propped up by the USA.
