AND FAILS TO DELIVER. EVERY Amazon deliver we get that comes via USPS is ALWAYS one or more days LATE. I call and complain to Amazon each and every time. They give me $10-25 credit but it doesn’t change the fact that they still send the next package the same way with the same results.

Show me where the USPS charges to pick up a parcel? I picked up 4 today, and didn’t charge the customer a dime. They have to pay the postage to mail anything, but nothing beyond postage is paid...or am I doing my job wrong, and you need to give me extra instruction on how to perform my duties?

And since when does pizza joints pick up pizza from a home?

This Subsidy for China Is Dumb as a Post- Overseas competitors undercut me thanks to an old mail treaty

'President Trump tweeted in December that the U.S. Postal Service isn’t charging Amazon enough to deliver merchandise. But it’s not Jeff Bezos who is getting the lowest rates. In fact, it’s a major economic competitor of the United States—China—that is getting a sweetheart deal from the USPS.

I learned of this because it undercuts my company, Mighty Mug. We sell a patented travel mug that we mail customers from our warehouse in New Jersey. Over the past two years, China-based competitors have flooded the market with knockoffs of our product.

We pay the USPS $6.30 to ship a Mighty Mug within the U.S. In a web search for infringing items, we came across a fake Mighty Mug for $5.69, with free shipping all the way from China. How is a Chinese retailer able to sell a product and send it 8,100 miles for less than our shipping costs alone?

The answer has to do with an international agency I’d never heard of—the Universal Postal Union, founded in 1874 and now a United Nations agency. It sets intercountry rates for mail delivery.

The UPU has 192 members divided into groups based on the strength of their economies. This classification dictates the amount each country pays in terminal dues—that is, the fee to a foreign postal service for delivering inbound mail. Less-developed countries get significant discounts on shipments to more-developed ones. The UPU classifies China a “Group 3” country, along with countries like Cuba and Gabon—even though China has the world’s largest e-commerce market.'

I’ve noticed that almost all our packages now are delivered to our door by the Postal Service. Even if shipped by UPS or FedEx. There must be a reason for this. I suspect you taxpayers are getting screwed. Poor mail carrier has to carry packages along with the mail. They even deliver on Sundays.

“The other thing that should pi$$ you off is that rather than buying mail service trucks from the automakers, they want to design a new “special truck” that will supposedly “last longer” at a projected cost of $60,000 per unit. Just hope our military has wiser planners.”

The current USPS delivery vehicle is the aluminum bodied LLV built by Grumman with pickup truck running gear from the automakers. Those trucks went into service in the mid 1980s and you still see them in use. 30 year lifespan is probably a fair return on investment.

What Trump SHOULD be going after are the rates foreign shippers receive when mailing commercial products into the US via USPS from abroad. I know of sellers that compete against other sellers from China, where the China sellers net price including shipping is below the US seller’s product cost. The postal rate is set ridiculously low, which disadvantages America’s small businesses.

Yes! I was going to post the same thing. USPS delivers mail from China for pennies, while US sellers pay $2.60 and up.

The PO is doing better financially because of Amazon. Amazon is going to start their own delivery service, so the PO may lose a lot of their business.

Agree. That’s all correct but almost no one knows or remembers that bit of history. Nixon was in all reality LBJ’s third term.

Ronald Reagan actually challenged Nixon for the 1968 GOP primary. Makes me wonder how different history would have been had he been elected President instead of Nixon.

All of Indochina would be free. And there would have been no opening to China, retarding its economic recovery by decades.

From what I’ve read, the Post Iffice actually loses money shipping Amazon’s parcels.

According to federal regulators, the Post Office makes a profit off the Amazon deal. I have to ask myself how much I should trust the intelligence and honesty of “federal regulators”.

If Trump wanted to hit China where it hurts, the USPSwould be a good place to start.

We wouldn’t have nearly as many problems had Reagan been elected instead of Nixon.

Upset at myself for not having seen the Bushes for who they really were fifteen years ago. Their “good friendship” with the Clintlers says it all, really.

It’s not just Amazon that is subsidized by the USPS, the ENTIRE COUNTRY OF CHINA is also subsidized by the USPS.

You can see that all over eBay. There are sellers in China who are able to sell items for a dollar, and offer FREE shipping to the US.

Here is a sample:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/292431175401

The smallest package going from the US to China costs $14.25, with no tracking or delivery confirmation.

If the P.O. “increased its parcel rates, Amazon’s shipping costs would rise by $2.6 Billion

Just did a search and in 2017, the Post Office lost $2.7 Billion - that kind of makes it look like cuts for Amazon is the problem...the PO is financing a very rich entity by the same amount it is losing each year....

I apologize for being clear as mud.

The PO gives free delivery, but if YOU want to get your mail at their place they charge you for it.

This is fiscally backwards.

Yes, it’s called renting a PO Box. That is a different level of service. I choose not to have the service, but some folks do.
