John Bolton is expected to "launch a massive shake-up" when he takes over next month at the National Security Council to clear out leaks, Foreign Policy magazine reported Friday.
"Bolton can and will clean house," one former White House official told the magazine.
A second former White House official was more blunt: "Everyone who was there during Obama years should start packing their s**t."
And another source said that Bolton "is going to remove almost all the political [appointees] McMaster brought in."
President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday that Bolton, 69, the former United Nations ambassador, would succeed National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster on April 9.
McMaster, 55, a three-star Army lieutenant colonel who is on active duty, said he would retire and "leave public service" in the summer.
Foreign Policy cited "sources" in its report, saying that Bolton and his staffers would be targeting "officials believed to have been disloyal to President Donald Trump, those who have leaked about the president to the media, his predecessor's team, and those who came in under [President Barack] Obama."

Just wait for the lawsuit that says they can’t be fired. They will continue to gum up the works just like DACA, FBI and everything else. Gum up and stall.
Rehire Flynn.
The same thing happened when President Bush fired 6 US attorneys.
Very good! And sometimes you have to put out some cheese to find the rat!
I hope he can pull it off. But I got a feeling he’s going to be told “You have title. You no have power, Bolton boy.”
Note: Foreign Policy has a paywall and allows three 'free' articles a month. By removing the FP cookies from your computer, you can get around the paywall. Same for Wash Post and others.
“Just wait for the lawsuit that says they cant be fired. They will continue to gum up the works.”
No, if that happens, they will “warehouse” them in a place with no phones, no computer access, nothing but elevator music, and let them vegetate while their cases wend their way through the courts. Yeah, maybe they will still get paid, but that would be a small price to pay to get them where they are neutered.
Music to my ears. I'm sure there are some who are patriots, and I hate to see them pay a price for the others, but it's too difficult to sort this out in a short period of time without risking a lot.
While they await their lawsuit, Bolton can put them in a separate office with a bare desk, a phone, and a scratch pad in an office with no internet access or wifi and no computers and make them sit there 8 hours a day except for bathroom breaks and lunch. You disallow them their cell phones citing security concerns. They might be allowed to read from materials made available to them such as the Bible, the constitution, the Federalist papers, and all books written by Rush Limbaugh and Trump! That’s how I would do it.
A 3 star lieutenant colonel. Lol.
Must’ve been in the Venezuelan army.
And the phone doesn’t work either.
Awesome! Scream them away!
John Bolton needs to bring back some the excellent patriotic people that bullet head stooge McMaster forced out.
Michael Bolton has the last laugh with a net worth of 100 million. (Internet sez)
Good. Turn him loose!
I know he's a good singer, and I'm happy for him that he's done well, but to some extent (just from my personal perspective) it would be worth paying at least half that much to not have to incessantly listen to him sing.
Bolton should have everyone at NSC take the Polygraph test.
No. Keep the pipeline open. Simply change the data!
I agree, I would expect that after the judge throws out the Mulehead indictment.
