A Pennsylvania school district is arming classrooms with buckets of rocks as a last-ditch defense against mass shooters.
David Helsel, superintendent of the Blue Mountain School District in Schuylkill County, told ABC News on Friday that every elementary, middle and high school classroom in the district is stocked with a 5-gallon bucket full of river stones for students and teachers to pelt an armed intruder.
“We’ve been trying to be proactive just in case,” Mr. Helsel said. “How can you aim a gun if you’re being pelted with rocks?”

Back in my high school days I cold knock just about anyone flat with a baseball under 70’and while having not made a habit of throwing rocks at people I threw enough at other things to be confident that at half that distance someone would be in deep shit if I did.

As someone who has done spear throwing with kids... I don’t think the grade school kids who aren’t allowed to have recess ar going to have the arm strength to really hurl a rock...
Teacher to students:
The students in front with 3 rocks will charge the shooter, those without rocks will follow.
When the student with rocks is shot, the student behind without rocks will take the shot students rocks and continue the charge.

Don’t laugh about atlatls... pebbles are funny but atlatls can seriously kill, even our demo darts go cleanly through two bales of straw cleanly.
Getting enough space to throw atlatl darts in a seething mass of terrified kids is another matter because the darts dip before they spring forward on their arc. Maybe if the atlatls are weighted you can use them in close quarters to knock a guy in the head.
At least equip the schools with Aztec obsidian-edged swords...
A woman in Oregon, several years ago, had that experience with man trying to break in. She called 911, and they said no officers were available at that time... and she should tell him to STOP! She was raped.... unbelievable the insanity!
I find it interesting that at some level, these people do understand that armed assailants can be stopped by striking them with projectiles.
They should be embarrassed.
Armed teachers would be so much safer.
This stupid decision now puts rocks out and available to every angry, pissed off, and bullied student on meds. He/She can now kill by hitting students in the head with these rocks. Very dangerous and very stupid move!!
