Pa. school district arms teachers, students with buckets of rocks in case of shooting
The Washington Times ^ | March 23, 2018 | Jessica Chasmar -

A Pennsylvania school district is arming classrooms with buckets of rocks as a last-ditch defense against mass shooters.

David Helsel, superintendent of the Blue Mountain School District in Schuylkill County, told ABC News on Friday that every elementary, middle and high school classroom in the district is stocked with a 5-gallon bucket full of river stones for students and teachers to pelt an armed intruder.

“We’ve been trying to be proactive just in case,” Mr. Helsel said. “How can you aim a gun if you’re being pelted with rocks?”

Good point! The official British advice is "run, hide, tell". At least here we are seeing something different.

“How can you aim a gun if you’re being pelted with rocks?”

How about we arm you with an air-soft gun, pelt you with rocks and garbage, and see how well you do?

A Blue Mountain School district superintendent or a Bucket of Rocks? Which one has the higher I.Q.?

They should ban such high-capacity buckets. No one needs five gallons worth of rocks. Two gallons should be more than enough.

Never bring a rock to a gun-fight.

“Stone age weapons up against state of the art weapons,... what could go wrong?

I’m now fully convinced you have to be mentally impaired to be a Democrat.”

Only a Democrat would give their child a few rocks and tell him to throw them at a shooter with an automatic weapon.

This reminds me of the hiker that joins a buddy and goes out into the Grizzly bear infested forest and mountains armed with a .22 pistol. They get out there and get talking about a hypothetical encounter and what they are prepared to do. The buddy shows off his .454 Catsul. The hiker pull out his loaded 6-shot, .22 caliber semi-auto pistol. Big Gun Guy laughs at him and says, “What are you going to do with THAT against a hungry Grizzly?” The hiker, deadpan, replies, “I’m going to shoot you in the leg, run away, and from a distance, see if your .454 Catsul will kill the bear before it eats you.”

Won’t the shooters just look for the “ROCK FREE ZONE” signs ?

‘Stand-off distance is your friend’ works both ways.

And how many classroom walls (interior or exterior) have any type of bullet-resistant (at least up to .308) construction?

“React proactively is the lesson. Do not run, hide or scream helplessly. Throw something, anything.”

That’s about as bad as A/G in obama’s administration telling people that if there is a armed shooter, to grab a sissors and go after the shooter. Where on earth do some of these nuts come up with such a worthless idea?

Here is a video of a teacher describing the Parkland school shooting. Think what would happen if she remained in the hallway and started throwing rocks at the shooter.

It would be impressive if the rocks were being hurled at members of congress to commemorate the Omnibus Spending Bill (Democrats Gotcha Bill).

I’m sure having a bucket full of rocks in the classroom with a bunch of teenagers will be fine.
What mischief could that cause?

You are supposed to add (Satire) to the title when posting stuff like this. And use the correct source - The Onion.

Wait. You mean this is for real?

Can’t be . No one could be that stupid, can they? Even a liberal educator?
