Somalis in Minnesota----Somali councilman at podium----unite to defend Somali policeman who killed girl.
Said he was "American"......but when he joined the police dept--he was hailed as a Somali. They want it both ways.

Nice how they assimilate, isnt it?

Somali Police Association in Minnesota---getting dental work, I hope.
One of their Somalis colleagues killed a girl without provocation.

United they stand against Americans.

Good, as it should be. I have heard nothing about this case for a year and I assumed it would be swept behind the blue wall of secrecy. It is great that a cop who panicked and negligently shot and killed an innocent person is going to be tried for his crime.

I am very pro LEO and I think most are good guys worthy of our support, until they cover up for the few bad apples. The best way for police to strengthen my support for them is to quit covering for bad cops or covering for good cops who make a stupid or flawed mistake. Cops should not be above the law when they screw up.

I feel badly for the cop but not nearly as badly as I feel for the family of the murdered woman. This cop has to pay for his crime of negligence. We need to get past the long time when cops get off scott free for doing things we would go to prison for.

The authorities are doing the right thing. I have to applaud them for trying this cop for his mistake. It was murder, even if only in the 3rd degree or manslaughter, but he did negligently kill her. He has to take his punishment.

If he was a white cop and shot a black victim in NYC with no justification, this would have been settled in eight hours - eight days at the most.

Those are creepy pictures; Americans must breed the crusaders who will defeat these invaders. Look at the Jawas on the left in the top picture - and imagine how much they hate us. They breed the young killers...

With a ruling that the shooting had been justified.

I don’t think so; this cop was Asian-American, but those days are over. Reuters 2/11/16: “A New York City police officer was convicted of manslaughter on Thursday for fatally shooting an unarmed black man in a darkened public housing stairwell.”

If there was justification for the shooting, usually the cop is cleared (as he should be); this cop shot this guy for no good reason at all.

A white cop shot a black man in suburban Minneapolis, was charged with many of the same infractions this cop was charged with, and wasn't convicted. For every incident you mentioned there are many more where the cop is either not charged or not convicted.

If there was justification for the shooting, usually the cop is cleared (as he should be); this cop shot this guy for no good reason at all.

"Justification" usually is summed up by the cop saying he thought that his life or the life of others was in danger. They're claiming that there was a loud noise that startled them so he shot. Officers have walked away for less.

You’re right, but by and large those days of unquestioned cop shootings are over. Heck, in LA they even re-tried the Rodney King cops 25 years ago until they came up with the right verdict. “Civil rights violations” are the catch-all when a jury doesn’t arrive at the politically-correct verdict.

We will have to agree to disagree on that.

Heck, in LA they even re-tried the Rodney King cops 25 years ago until they came up with the right verdict. “Civil rights violations” are the catch-all when a jury doesn’t arrive at the politically-correct verdict.

And they had to convict that North Charleston police officer of the same. Shooting a fleeing and unarmed suspect multiple times in the back wasn't enough to get the local jury to convict. But civil rights violations isn't an option in most cases.

I’m sure shooting a fleeing and unarmed suspect can be justified (if the shooter was the Unabomber, for example - a clear threat to others’ safety if loose/free). I don’t know the rationale for the North Charleston cop’s shooting of the unarmed man (I saw the footage), but I don’t second-guess juries. IIRC, they didn’t acquit the cop; they just wouldn’t convict him (hung jury or mistrial) - and I’m sure the jury had more information than our “free press” ever shared with us.

The LA cops were actually acquitted by a jury, who saw the whole tape of the incident (in which Rodney King initially attacked them); our ghetto denizens rioted because our “free press” showed us only the second half of that video.

Now if it were a white cop who killed a black girl he would be put to death before his trial

We second-guess juries all the time. We've all seen the video. And I for the life of me do not see how that shooting was justified in any shape or form.

As for why the cop shot, the most likely answer is that he was one of the small minority of police officers who should not have been police officers to begin with. Who panicked and used deadly force when none was justified. The overwhelming majority of police officers do their very difficult job quietly and competently. It is the small minority of officers, like this one in Minneapolis or ones in Georgia and Oklahoma and Nevada and Ohio and South Carolina and far too many other places, who panic and overreact, and people die as a result. I think that this officer should pay a penalty for shooting Ms. Diamond. I thought the cop who shot people in a lot of other situations should pay a penalty for their overreaction, too. But all too often they do not, and I will not be at all surprised if that is the case here as well.

If someone wants to question the jury’s reasoning, go for it; I can’t believe the video was the only evidence shown to the jury and they wouldn’t convict. I wonder what else they were shown that would even leave a conviction in doubt; I am quite sure our media won’t share it with us.

People say that about the O.J. trial too. I question that verdict all the time.

Imagine what the OJ jurors saw/heard...that prosecutor bungled the job.

The lesson here is don’t call the cops for any reason.

Agreed. There is no situation so bad that it can't be made worse by throwing a cop into the mix.

The only reason cops will ever get called to my house is to fill out paperwork about a dead intruder.
