A 100-year-old Texas man says he's on “the top of the world” after breaking five world running records for his age group during a championship meet in Maryland last weekend.

Orville Rogers, a Dallas resident who trained bomber pilots during World War II, is proof age is just a number after his record-setting performances at the USATF Master Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Can run way better than I can and not near that age. I think some of it is bodybuild. Hard to run for many people. Very admirable. Very healthy.

Be sure to watch the video. Mr. Rogers left the other four guys in the dust, but they’re all doing well to be runnimg at 100+ years old.

Wow! The guy is pretty quick on his feet for 100 years of age. Amazing.

Check the Texas Country Reporter website for a video story about him. He has also written a book.

Not only physically fit, but his mind is as sharp as a tack!
A very lucky man indeed.

I watched his 3000m race Saturday afternoon. Slow for my 65 year-old body but very impressive for his. I took a short video.

Saw this guy this morning...very cool. He runs better at 100 years old then I did when I was 30!

Impressive. I think his stride accounted for the difference between his race and a couple of the others. I counted his steps and he took about 50 steps to go the 60 meters, so his stride was well over a meter. A couple of the others were taking steps just about as fast, but their strides were far shorter, on the order of a couple of feet or so.

I wish the article had given his times for the other four races.

Just to be clear, Mr. Rogers is in lane 2 and set the record for those over 100 years old. This is a combined age event and the fellow running in lane 5 who blew past the rest of the field was Edward Cox. He is a mere 90 years... .

I did not realize that until you pointed it out and I went back and read more closely. Thanks for the clarification.
