Official Washington flocking to Doomsday Camps
by Paul Bedard | March 19, 2018 08:16 AM
A building network of backwoods doomsday camps around the country are pulling in members from affluent areas and even Washington national security officials as the threats grow from nuclear war, an EMP or virus attack.
Called Fortitude Ranch, the outposts promise protection and a years supply of food for those unable to build their own bunker. Whats more, until a crisis strikes, they are being used for prepper training and vacations.
Were seeing members from all the three letter agencies, said Fortitude creator Drew Miller, a retired Air Force colonel and intelligence officer, in a reference to the Central Intelligence Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
He called an attack or even a weather-related electromagnetic pulse shutdown of the electric grid inevitable, and a driving force in his project.
One of his members from the Baltimore area, speaking on background, said that he and others joined after waking up to the potential of a national crisis from an attack, financial meltdown or political violence. For most of us, something rattled our cages and woke us up, he said.
Through memberships and his own cryptocurrency called Fortitudes, Miller has raised about $400,000 and established a ranch in West Virginia and Colorado with 10 others planned. An open house at the West Virginia ranch is scheduled for April 21-23.
He said that for the West Virginia ranch, most members are professional Washington area folks. They dont have time to do this own their own. The cost is about $1,000 per person per year to join.

It will be a mixed bag.....some ciorcuits are more hardened and resistant than others, EMP effects won’t be 100 per cent in blanketing everything everywhere and the Earth curvature will also effect an emp force especially at the edges. A Radio tower may act as a grounding conduit for surrounding areas as will hills with high ferrite content. Power outages will be spotty over wide areas but not completely destroyed. It will be a big mess but there will not be 100 per cent complete electronics destruction. Batteries will still work. I’m sure many old style gas generators will work. Can our society keep enough of its wits about itself while we try to painfully rebuild....? Well that is another issue!
Nope.
They either are planing that only 5% will get there, they think it would not be used for some years or it is a scam.
Or maybe they plan to let the ones that might be of some use in and shooting all the rest.
Makes ‘em easier to round up.
It appears that the "Fortitude cryptocurrency" coin of $1000.oo per person has expired as of 1/30/18.
Given the wild fluctuation of cryptocurrencies lately, with missing billion$ and hacking, the "Fortitude coin" current value is unknown.
It appears that the expired "Fortitude coin" initial offer may be an annual fee, per person, per year. Renewal each year (??).
Cryptocurrency has value only to the person holding it, or the person who wants to own it - if no interest then = no value !
"see just how much food (dehydrated/canned/preserved any way) is really necessary to keep one individual adult on "survival" rations for a year."
While viewing the video promo, I noticed canned Bush's Baked Beans, and canned Yams; there is nothing but commercially canned food shown.
That's not a very good "Prepper" skill demonstration, unless they include shopping skills at Wegman's, Publix, Sure Fine, or Price Chopper.
Such thoughtful people. They are setting up one stop shopping for all of the unwashed in the general area. Do they really think that the locals are going to be their lackeys and take care of their useless a****? Of what use is an elite in a SHTF event? The only thing that might keep them alive is the fact that many rural people are Christians. However if I were them, I wouldn’t push it.
>>Im curious as to how they expect to travel from the city to the Fortitude Ranch after the EMP...<<
You’re asking this of Liberals; they have zero knowledge of how things work. They think ground meat is made in the butcher shop.
Then again, they might be forewarned or are planning an event. Don’t trust the enemy.
That is true of any currency.
Exactly! I guess this is what happens when ignorant greed takes precedence over wise thrift. Gonna be interesting. As PT Barnum said, “There’s one born every minute.” WC Fields put it even better: “You can’t cheat an honest man. Never give a sucker an even break, or smarten up a chump.”
I’d be willing to pay $29.99 to watch it on Pay-per-View - in crypto-currency, of course...
“EMP wont be a road clogging event.”
Oh...I see....there won’t be any cars dead on the road?
They’ll all be in their driveways and garages?
I missed that......
80% of those who try to high-tail it out of DC to WVA with their kids and dogs won’t even make it halfway there. Those that do will be in neither place but out on the road in the open and will wish they had sheltered in place.
If they are getting ready, something must be in the works.
Even the fact that there is some interest out of Washington is sufficient notification to me.
After viewing the company video, it seems to be more 'eye candy' at this stage, perhaps enough to induce investment.
Somehow, the idea of staying in an underground, corrugated quonset hut, with dormitory bedrooms, and eating commercially canned Bush's Baked Beans doesn't appeal to me
especially at $1,000.oo per person, per year.
Also, no word on who the 'Prepper Instructors' are, what their qualifications and skills are,
.. other than using a can opener for beans or canned Yams.
“take shelter in whichever ranch is closet”
Well, it passed the spell check...
You think all cars will be politely parked in their garages when the EMP bomb goes off?
It’ll be more like 100 million vehicles dead on all the roads and nothing working to push them into the ditch. Think of all the millions of people stranded far from home — people who couldn’t walk five miles if their lives depended on it.
I agree. What worthy clandestine spy / spook type would buy into a well-publicized hide-out? Fails the sniff test, doesn’t it?
This smells like misdirection. “Hey, rubes! Here’s our refuge! Over here! Honest!”
This was well described in “One Second After.” Organized lawless mobs fleeing dead cities hitting unprepared towns in suburbs and exurbs. The battles quickly became brutish and deadly not long after people began starving.
So...speaking purely hypothetically, of course, if someone of ill intent were to successfully simulate such an impending disaster, drive the panic level up, get all the media screeching, the traffic moving...wouldn’t these be the best people to have in bunkers with a firm exterior lock? Think how much better off the country would be if they didn’t...come out. Speaking purely hypothetically, of course.
“Itll be more like 100 million vehicles dead on all the roads and nothing working to push them into the ditch. “
Not going to happen. EMP’s have limited range.
