McCabe just made life tough for Comey and the special counsel
The Hill ^ | Jonathan Turley

Posted on 03/17/2018 10:05:22 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Following his termination late Friday night, former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe declared that he was “singled out” after “unrelenting” attacks by President Trump and critics. McCabe’s objections are less than credible, given the virtually unprecedented recommendation of career officials to fire the one-time acting FBI director.

However, McCabe may have rectified his “singled out” status with his long statement criticizing his termination: In the middle of it is a line that could be viewed as incriminating fired FBI director James Comey, not just in leaking sensitive information but also in lying to Congress.

McCabe is accused of misleading investigators about allegedly giving information to a former Wall Street Journal reporter about the investigation of Hillary Clinton and the Clinton family’s charitable foundation. McCabe asserts in his post-firing statement that he not only had authority to “share” that information to the media but did so with the knowledge of “the director.” The FBI director at the time was Comey.

“I chose to share with a reporter through my public affairs officer and a legal counselor,” McCabe stated. “As deputy director, I was one of only a few people who had the authority to do that. It was not a secret, it took place over several days, and others, including the director, were aware of the interaction with the reporter.”

If the “interaction” means leaking the information, then McCabe’s statement would seem to directly contradict statements Comey made in a May 2017 congressional hearing. Asked if he had “ever been an anonymous source in news reports about matters relating to the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation” or whether he had “ever authorized someone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports about the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation,” Comey replied “never” and “no.”

When Fox reported on McCabe’s response last night, I instantly thought of it as the Red October torpedo that might sink the Ship of Tools captained by Comey and commissioned by Obama himself!

So McCabe says he learned about being fired in a press release from what I read..........well, he has just proven himself as a liar to me because you can not write up the response he did and get it out to the media as fast as he did.

The excuse that he had the permission of serial liar and leaker, James Comey, seems like a stretch. This man lied to the investigators. His claim that his firing is part of an effort to derail the investigation is ludicrous.

A few have offered him federal jobs so he can get his extra two days needed for full retirement. I wonder how this will turn out. If he’s pissed at the president, can you blame him? Most people I know who are fired are bitter towards the person doing the firing. We’re all human.

Comey's already admitted to lying prior to this. He admitted he was the leaker of his own memo's that were considered classified and highly confidential work product of the FBI. Those memo's contained his own recollection of discussions with PDJT regarding Mike Flynn and Comey admitted PUBLICLY after LYING TO CONGRESS that he was the source/leaker to a professor friend of his, who then leaked those memo's to the media.

So here's my question: WHY HASN'T COMEY ALREADY BEEN INDICTED AND DONE THE PERP WALK? He LIED to Congress, he admitted to leaking information and has probably done much worse.

FFS Jeff Sessions do your damn' job and indict Comey!!!

Gawd I'm gonna have my third heart attack before all this bullshit is over!

He sure does implicate Comey. I’m waiting MSM questioning Comey but doubt it will happen.

If you or I “mislead” investigators at the FBI, we get federal charges filed against us. Just saying.

“Now you see why Sessions took the course of action that he did instead of just saying....you’re fired.”

Not only you are playing mind-reader, you are being delusional.
Sessions fired McCabe because he could not do otherwise, he took no decision by himself. Even that, what he’s done is too few, too late. A firing and not even an indictment, after one year when everyone knows from day one McCabe is guilty as hell? What a farce!
If Sessions was up to the task, McCabe would not be right now publicly trashing the President and bitching about his lost pension but instead begging for less years in a federal prison.

Financially destroying Paul Manafort and threatening to do the same to Gen. Flynn and anyone else in mueller’s crosshairs is good; firing mccabe with no pension is “just mean.” No double standard here.

I doubt Jed Clampett (Jeff Sessions) had the balls to do this without a mountain of evidence.

McCabe knows but he will try to circle the friendly press on this.

When the IG report comes out, McCabe will look ugly. And the mud will splatter Comey.

Once a decent special prosecutor is appointed, McCabe will sing like a bird to avoid jail and maybe the wholw house of cards will come tumbling down. I know it’s a dream.

All of the perps previously identified in this conspiracy will argue their cases in the press, hoping that they can win in the court of public opinion since clearly the law is not on their side.
