First Undocumented Immigrant Appointed to State Post in California
Newsweek via Yahoo ^ | March 15th, 2018 | Chantal Da Silva

For the first time in California's history, the state has appointed an undocumented resident to a statewide post, announcing the decision just a day after President Donald Trump attacked its immigration approach during a visit to San Diego.

The decision made by the Senate Rules Committee on Wednesday saw Lizbeth Mateo, a 33-year-old attorney and immigrant rights activist, appointed to serve on a committee that helps increase college access for students from low-income or underserved communities.

In announcing the decision, Senate President pro tempore Kevin de León appeared to recognize the move as an act of defiance in the face of the Trump administration's current immigration crackdown.

What the hell is the point to obeying the federal immigration laws.

We could solve California’s “rebellion” problem quickly if we just made certain that only legal American citizens could vote there, a.k.a. enforcing the law.

Oooh, smart...

Trump could use this as his, ahem, trump. Disenfranchise the entire state on the Federal basis that citizenship requirements are not enforced. Don’t allow CA residents to vote in national elections because the state has proven repeatedly that they do not respect national law. It can’t be trusted that voters in CA are legit.

I am a CA citizen, born here, and I say do this. Just like if I had been imprisoned in auschwitz I would have begged that the place be bombed.

My understanding is that when anyone is appointed to any government advisory committee, you have to take the oath to uphold the US Constitution and obey the laws of the land.

Question: How does a Mexican citizen do that?

Another great post.

The woman who answered said “we have a different interpretation of what undocumented means and said I have to leave it at that goodbye.”

All of this chick’s “documents” only prove she has been here illegally and gotten away with many things since she arrived.

Basically, if we were to use bank robbery as the substitute crime for illegal immigration, they are saying

“Look. Jones is not a law breaker. Look at these documents, he has BEEN ROBBING BANKS OFTEN over a long period of time in this area. Therefore, HE BELONGS in this safe, continuing to take money as he sees fit.”

Same would apply to a Kenyan citizen, British citizen, or Canadian citizen.

Calling Jeff Sessions.

Well, did Sessions answer the phone, or did it go straight to voicemail?

Don’t you have to swear an oath of office to the government? How can you do that if you are not even a citizen?

Just develop a "different interpretation" of the laws of California than the ones the CA state governemnt has, and then do what you want.

Any CA gunthugs try to stop you or arrest you, it's self-defense.

Thank you.

No one is undocumented, stop using that fake term.

If there is anyone in court, for ANY reason, they pretty have a ‘get out of jail card’, no?

If GOVT will not uphold/enforce the law vs. illegals, but will vs. Citizens, is that not grounds for dismissal? Unequal application of the Law on its face? It’s not just ‘proprietorial discretion’, it’s another DACA (blanket amnesty and, IIRC, ruled illegal\unconstitutional since it didn’t apply to ‘some’ but ‘all’).

How could ANY judge jail another defendant?

#28. Question: How does a Mexican citizen do that re taking an oath to “uphold the US Constitution and obey the laws of the land”.

Easy. Be a an illegal alien and an attorney IN CALIFORNIA where the laws are, like in “1984”, not applied to the “more equal”.

If they do find 10 illegals in the California government, by appointment (knowingly), then one part of the Immigration Law does apply for enforcement against those who violated it by the appointments. The problem is, who is going to apply it to the Gov. Herr Brown and his thoroughly corrupt state government including its legislature and courts?
