FBI officials recommend former #2 at FBI Andrew McCabe be fired

FBI officials have recommended that the former number two at the FBI Andrew McCabe be fired, CBS News' Paula Reid reports. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reviewing the recommendation. It's likely he'll take the recommendation because it would be difficult for Sessions, who has promised to go after leakers, to be perceived as looking the other way on leaks. Another factor -- it would likely upset the president if it appears that Sessions is going too easy on McCabe over his handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe.

The bureau, asked for a response, said that it had no personnel announcements, but released a statement saying, ""The Department follows a prescribed process by which an employee may be terminated. That process includes recommendations from career employees and no termination decision is final until the conclusion of that process."

The Justice Department's inspector general is, according to media reports, expected to criticize McCabe as part of its investigation into the handling of the Clinton email investigation. The Associated Press reported earlier this month that "criticism of McCabe was expected to be in connection with a media disclosure and a question of whether proper procedures were followed in the release of information."

The move, if it happens, would endanger McCabe's pension and retirement benefits.

Shouldn’t he be fired AND prosecuted?

NO, thus far he is being allowed to depart voluntarily as a “retirement.” He may have felt some degree of pressure or even compulsion (retire now, or else....) but it will be quite different officially if he is “fired” before his retirement becomes official.

“let me see, he gets a 30 day letter. Humm, just happens to be within 30 days for retirement. So, he gets the letter and says, I think I will submit my papers, 29 days from today. Out the door he goes, clean record.”
*******************************************************************
Retirement pension applications are submitted BEFORE the actual date of retirement. The retirement application paperwork is submitted, processed and approved (or denied) BEFORE the requested effective retirement date (I.e., the final day of being an active employee). So his retirement paperwork was already submitted and processed within the FBI. While it might be a while before his pension payment amount is officially determined and payment made, his retirement paperwork has already been processed/approved. This “possibility” of being fired is all smoke and mirrors.

Thank you. I am glad to hear common sense is part of this. This is nothing more then political. Is it any wonder why people hate politics. It is pretty disgusting to do this 1 week prior to retirement after over 20 years of service. I guess last night didn’t teach them a thing. Keep this up and we won’t have a single Republican in Congress. Democrats will win everything.

BWAHahahahhahaha. Oh, that IS cute.

We are so far down the rabbit hole of NOT being a Const. Republic, I don’t know why the banana isn’t the official fruit (outside of CA that is).

Imagine the blowback if he did what you said. Instead, he’s allowed them just enough rope....it’s perfect. The IG report with start the ball rolling for the rest and all Trump has to do is Tweet.

If he doesn’t start singing, he is an idiot.
It’s the only leverage he has, and he is scummy enough to use it.

And if he opens up, that’s it for the whole fraternity.
Who wouldn’t sing to save the pension, for heaven’s sake.
