Ford is recalling nearly 1.4 million midsize cars in North America because the steering wheel can detach from the steering column and drivers could lose control.
The recall covers certain Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2014 through 2018 model years.
Ford says steering wheel bolts can loosen over time. The company says it knows of two crashes and one injury caused by the problem.

You just have to alternate thrust between the left engine and the right.

They’re just pretest samples for the driverless cars they are promising us. The program was just a little buggy...

In the end Ford didn’t really save that much money by skipping the Loctite on these bolts.

The steering box on my 65 Willys is pretty much gone. Willys wobble.
It might as well not have any steering, it goes mostly where it wants. I hope to rebuild it finally and soon. I’m tired of it sitting.

Let mean guess - bean counter overreach. Some cost cutter decides the steering wheel can do with one less fastener. The result? An expensive recall that also trashes the brand name.

*COULD* lose control? I think this COULD be very the definition of “loss of control”.
