Its also possible that President Trump COUNTS on this type of reaction to be able to point to it and say we Republicans would lose too much support.

I know that. People have been extrapolating Trump saying not o put Concealed Carry Reciprocity in John Cornyn’s background check bill into “Trump doesn’t support Concealed Carry Reciprocity”.

Not me. I want them to have security similar to that of the White House. Fences, cameras, id checks, metal detectors, armed guards, bullet proof windows. Pretty much the same security enjoyed by Hollywood bigshots, billionaires, politicians, or the Pope. Is that asking too much?
I'd rather spend tax dollars on this than on a lot of other garbage our government is buying. It's not like the pot holes in my street can get any worse.

yeah, we tend to over-react when the president says something that is totally unconstitutional. Was it really “planned” or was it explained to him after he talked?

That is what the Dems have currently made our schools, so we have to remake them.
That is why they want them at age 3 to start indoctrinating them. Memphis is set to raise the Hotel/Motel tax to fund Pre-K to do that. Memphis is total Dem run who can’t even add 2+2 or read simple Dick and Jane books at HS level. Hubby taught Electronic/Computer Science at Junior College level, the Memphis grads had to take Remedial Math before they could take his classes, these were supposed to by A/B Math students.
Some buy a Trump hat for the opportunity to declare they have been bamboozled and will now burn it.

My point exactly. I could not care less if they looked like prisons but served their intended purpose. Modern security can be very unobtrusive, if you want, but I really don’t care.
Someone finally figured Trump out. But not to worry - no one will believe him.
