...A case in point is the widely cited work of Louis Klarevas, a professor at the University of Massachusetts at Boston whose 2016 book, "Rampage Nation: Security America From Mass Shootings," has lately bolstered calls for a renewal of the 1994 assault weapons ban, which lapsed in 2004. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) gave President Trump a bar chart attributed to Klarevas at Wednesday's guns roundtable.
..."Rampage Nation" has energized proponents of a new ban by making the spectacular claim that, contrary to the consensus, the original was responsible for a remarkable 37% decline in mass shooting fatalities.
But there's a serious flaw in Klarevas' result: There are few actual "assault weapons" of any type in his dataset, either pre- or post-ban. Klarevas and his allies are taking an apparent drop in fatalities from what are mostly handgun shootings (again, pre-ban as well as post) and attributing this lowered body count to the 1994 legislation.

All the “assault rifle” murders in the US amount for about 1% of all murders. If these weapons were completely banned, the thugs would switch to a different type of weapon. “Assault rifles” are considered scary because of all the Hollywood movies that show terrorists, crooks and even the good guys blasting away with fully automatic versions. They’ve planted this image in the minds of the public who then panic when they hear the phrase. Mindless.
Occam’s Razor. He is a Moslem/ Everything he did fits that template.
Let’s try enforcing existing laws before enacting laws that infringe on Constitutional rights.

Prohibition didn’t work either. They actually amended the Constitution and had to amend it back before the nation was destroyed.
Same thing will happen with firearms.
You can’t overthrow tyrannical government without modern weapons. 2nd Amendment is all about an armed civilian population strong enough to overthrow tyrants.

The idiots are crying for SOMETHING to stop shootings.
The government will do SOMETHING which will have no effect.
It seems in a lot of cases these shooters are buying inexpensive AR-15 type rifles, and then they jam when they try to use them in rapid-fire situations.
Which seems like a great thing. The Parkland shooter was stopped by a rifle jam. He was using only 10-round magazines, which means he could have easily used a handgun or two, which would have been more reliable and allowed him to use all 150 rounds he had with him.

Whether it was or wasn’t is moot as the Columbine killers used bombs and handguns, not so-called assault rifles.
Yes. That’s the point. Bad guys will find a way to hurt people.
