REI halts Camelbak, Giro brands after parent company fails to take gun stance

SEATTLE, Wash. - Kent-based outdoor retailer REI is putting on hold partnerships with a company that owns a gun manufacturer.

While REI doesn’t sell guns, it does sell products from companies that recently have been acquired by Vista Outdoors.

Companies under Vista Outdoors include Giro, Bell, Camelbak, Camp Chef and Blackburn. Vista also owns Savage Arms, which manufactures guns, including modern sporting rifles.

“We believe that it is the job of companies that manufacture and sell guns and ammunition to work towards common sense solutions that prevent the type of violence that happened in Florida last month. In the last few days, we’ve seen such action from companies like Dick’s Sporting Goods and Walmart and we applaud their leadership,” REI said in statement.

“This morning we learned that Vista does not plan to make a public statement that outlines a clear plan of action. As a result, we have decided to place a hold on future orders of products that Vista sells through REI while we assess how Vista proceeds. Companies are showing they can contribute if they are willing to lead. We encourage Vista to do just that.”

It’s time for Trump to direct the DOJ to look into bringing RICO charges against those pushing for this boycott.

What does “working towards common sense solutions” mean?

Sounds like profiling and discrimination.

I thought those were bad things?

“”What does “working towards common sense solutions” mean?”””

Apparently it has something to do with alienating half your customers.

Whatever it means, it does not mean any non-common solution like allowing teachers the option, if they have a concealed-carry, to be vetted to carry into school.

We already have those, morons. You SJWs decided that we shouldn't report crazy people to the police. It is YOU who are responsible for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School SJW-made disaster.

As well as the reverse-engineering of corporate DNA to find out if anyone, anywhere has had any subsidiary, department, employee, etc. who has made guns/ammo, sold guns/ammo, thought about selling/making guns/ammo, etc.

The government doesn’t have to work very hard to implement thought control when smug companies do the work for them.

We should start referring to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting as an social justice worker-made disaster.

I started receiving the REI catalog back in the 60’s and thought their stuff was pretty cool but way, way too expensive for me! Never purchased a thing from them and with this news, never will!

Vista should simply say....more guns, less crime. You can buy these products direct and we will make more money rather than giving REI a cut of the action.

I don’t know who REI is but they were just added to my list of places not to shop, places not to go, products not to buy, and so called celebrities/movies not to watch. The list is now a very long one.
