Yes, but I think that's the current talking point. I've heard it a handful of times lately... "We just don't talk about guns/bad guys/terrorists/lousy cops/etc". As if you can wish away things that you don't like.

In June 2001, a whack job in Osaka, Japan went on a rampage with a kitchen knife killing 8 elementary school students and seriously injuring 15 others including two teachers. His rampage ended only when one of the teachers had the wherewithall to whack him in the head with a chair.

A court found the perp suffered from a mental disorder, but would not be a candidate to rehabilitate. He was hanged a little over three years later.

Nobody seriously talked about "knife control" after that tragic incident.
