Hopefully he was smart enough not to run to the FBI.

He replied, “It’s too dangerous working there. You only get 1 mistake and you’re dead.”

That is true of a significant proportion of research, whether or not one does infectious disease research. If someone is too afraid to work with toxins, chemicals, or microorganisms that can easily kill a person who does not handle them with utmost care, then it is best to keep that person out of the lab.

I’ve read several articles but none indicated Cunningham was involved in criminal activity.

There’s another possibility: Some diseases mess with your mind something awful! He may have walked out the door while hallucinating, or forgotten where he was, or be talking to a tree somewhere.

I don’t know how much of a probability that is, but I just wanted to throw it out as a possibility. I think if it was suicide, he would have done something to make sure his dog was ok. And the billfold is a big clue also.

Also read according to co-workers he left work early because he felt sick. He didn’t call in sick.

Someone should call the FBI to look for this guy . . . .

Funny how this sound like a joke right now, but at one point, that’s what you’d do in this situation.

Timothy J. Cunningham, ScD, worked in population health at CDC and it is quite unlikely that he had any contact with dangerous pathogens.

"His research has been oriented towards understanding health differences related to race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, and geography"

He worked in Chamblee and lived in the Bolton (northwest) neighborhood of Atlanta.

If Mr. Cunningham has a badge, hope it’s been deactivated and its activity checked.

I’ve read several articles but none indicated Cunningham was involved in criminal activity.

Here's what I said: "My guess......"

Which is just as good as yours.....

And by the way,

1. House locked

2. Car in garage

3. Keys left home

4. Wallet left home

4. Cell phone left home

5. Passport left home

6. Dog at home

So he either took a very, very long walk and is still walking or someone gave him a ride.......someone that he likely knew since there was no sign of struggle or forced entry in the house.

Of course there's always the chance that this was an alien abduction prior to the expected anal probe.........

How did he leave work? Did he usually drive or take public transportation? Seems unlikely he would deliberately leave his dog at home alone. But he must have arrived home from work if his personal effects were there.

Leaving all of his personal effects, wallet, keys in the house says to me that either he didn’t leave of his own volition or just stepped outside and was not planning on going anywhere. Leaving a well-loved dog inside and unattended only adds to that impression. Speaking of impressions he strikes me as gay. Good way to get robbed or killed, hooking up online, regardless of straight or gay but they do it with alarming frequency. Hooked up with a psycho or great cover for taking out a problematic individual who wouldn’t keep his mouth shut? Just speculation.
