Cross country skier Jessie Diggins will be the flag bearer for the United States at the closing ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Team USA announced.
Diggins along with Kikkan Randall became the first American women to win a gold medal in cross country skiing when they beat Sweden and Norway.
Diggins passed both countries on the final lap to bring home the historic medal.
This is such an incredible honor for me. Im really humbled and moved that the athletes voted for me. Its so inspiring to feel the support and cheering from everyone," Diggins said in a statement.
The flag bearer selected met with controversy for the opening ceremony when luge athlete Erin Hamlin was selected for the honor over speedskater Shani Davis.

Diggins is fantastic.
I hope some of you got to watch her gold medalling race.
Even though she outclassed Norway, I was standing on my feet cheering for her and Kikkan Randall, her teammate.

Congratulations, America. Jessica Diggings is a gem beloved among all the cross country nations. It might be time for her to be discovered even in her home country.
Bravo!
U.S.A.!
Obviously another racist coin toss!
That’s a gold medal?? It looks like a yellow hockey puck. Or a big urinal cake. Yuck.
She’s cute.
Wait until the race and LQBGDUHGSD7H pimps start to scream.
Young, gorgeous, blonde, gold medalist with a rock hard body. That’s no way to go through life...
That’s mighty white of them.
Comcast already has made an add for her and this event:

I’d have to take a half hour nap after just putting the skis on.....
I was going to ping you.
Try to watch the commentary.
Great stuff.
However the Olympic circus is coming to an end...
Tomorrow is West Ham and Firmino has been freed from the racist accusations made by Holgate. Accusations that to me, well... I would really suspect the bastard just played the race card in order to get out of a potential red card situation in the derby.
He “heard” the N-word. Btw, I find it utterly idiotic to use even such a term as the “n-word” but I do respect this site so.
1. For a multimillionaire being called a naughty name is hardly going to hurt you, unless you have issues yourself. He WAS called a son of a whore, which to me should be worse, but we live in an hysterical racialised world.
The anti-racists are doing more to cause racial divisions than the KKK ever could have hoped for.
2. This hysterical world we live in, which causes US best selling authors to report on their nerighbours when seeing a Norwegian flag flying, because she thinks it might have been a confederate flag, people find swaztikas in utility marking or an Everton player thinking he heard the “n-word” when he is called filho de puta or some such in a language he does not even understand.
But, bring on the football.
Cheers.
Fantastic race. All things considered, Diggins and her partner, had the most impressive American victory in the Olympics.
agreed
I will say no better feeling that knocking back a few brewskis at the chalet after a day of skiing.
Jessie Diggins is a Minnesota girl thru and thru.
She made her high school cross country ski team - in 7th grade.
She won three individual state championships (not a small feat in a winter sports fixated state like ours) while competing for Stillwater High School - and I believe came close in another one.

Heck. “Anybody” can go faster uphill than the rest of the cross-country team if they’re younger, smaller, lighter-weight, and have shorter legs (less wind resistance ya know) than the rest of the team... 8<)
It made me nervous that she is not black
I used to race cross-country in high-school. Even beat a guy that went on to the Olympics in one race! My coach always said “You win on the hills - don’t give up or slow down - that’s what the other guy will do. You can rest on the other side when you go down.”
Nowadays I’ll find going up the hill a good time for a snack or a water break!
I can Diggins that.
Kind of a cheap sew job on the lanyard. Couldn’t they get a nice wide cloth ribbon?? We have better ones than that for our county fair sweepstakes!
