Let's take a closer look. The GOOG turns up
this (boldface added):
These are the rifle cartridges in common use by modern western militaries. The smallest is the standard NATO infantry round, 5.56x45mm. Adjacent on the left is the “medium” 7.62x51mm, also a common infantry round, especially in theaters where longer engagement distances render the 5.56 ineffective. Middle is .300 Winchester Magnum (.300WM), which has long been fielded for snipers needing to push beyond the 1000-yard “effective” range of the 7.62mm NATO. The .300WM is being supplanted by the fourth cartridge, .338 Lapua Magnum (.338LM), which has emerged as the top long-range military sniping cartridge. Previously, long-range snipers often relied on the largest of the “small arms” cartridges: the century-old “heavy” .50 Browning Machine Gun (.50BMG) round. |
The 5.56x45mm is the standard NATO round. It's not identical to the Remington .223, but it's close enough for non-government work.

What does 12 ga. buckshot look like?
Like being shot 8 times (standard 12 gauge buckshot load) with a .32 ACP using soft points.

Shooter is the problem; not the gun.
Would she object and whine if a patriot protected her from harm using this weapon/ammo?

And the left will fight every common sense step because they don’t want to solve the problem, they want to control the populace.

Revealing patient information. Did she get a signed release from the family? Did you see a single patient's name?

From the article:
I have friends who own AR-15 rifles; they enjoy shooting them at target practice for sport, and fervently defend their right to own them. But I cannot accept that their right to enjoy their hobby supersedes my right to send my own children to school, to a movie theater, or to a concert and to know that they are safe.
And just why do you think it does?
It's right up their EQUAL to it; as it is NOT an either/or situation.

In a typical handgun injury that I diagnose almost daily, a bullet leaves a laceration through an organ like the liver.
To a radiologist, it appears as a linear, thin, grey bullet track through the organ.
Sorry; dude; but the PICTURES above kinda nullify your words.

The energy is about twice as much because the handgun ammo mass is much greater. What has energy to do with mass?
Where's the velocity component??
In physics, the kinetic energy of an object is the energy that it possesses due to its motion.[1] It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity.

If we knew the distance from the rifle in the background and the distance of the bullets in the foreground; to the camera lens; we could then determine the relative size of each cartridge to the rifle; thereby picking the right cartridge fairly easily.
But; since these are unknowns; the answer will; imho; be unknown as well.
