Has there ever been a mass shooting at a Catholic School
www.quora.com ^

I thought this was an interesting question, so I perused the Wikipedia page for school shootings in the U.S., a rather massive list because it includes every shooting that produced at least one casualty — even accidental shootings.

I checked back as far as the 1920s and found no shootings at any Catholic grammar schools or high schools, and only one at a Catholic college — Gonzaga University in 1971, when a 21-year-old man shot and wounded four people on campus before he was killed by police.

In the 350 shootings that have taken place on school grounds since the Gonzaga incident, none appear to have been at a Catholic school

The nuns would never allow a mass shooting. A nun would whack the shooter with a yardstick and drag him by the ear to the principal’s office.

You are correct.

Mass shootings were never allowed at the Catholic Schools. There was no talking during Mass, either.

The Catholic boys high school that I went to is in a bad neighborhood and has armed guards on campus. I cannot recall any mass shootings at any public schools located in bad neighborhoods either. The public schools in the bad parts of town have armed police on campus.

There can be many reasons but one I proffer involves a conversation my late wife and I had with the manager of the diner we frequented. A Catholic school had closed in her part of Long Island and we wondered if her children’s parish school had had many incoming students. She said “ Oh we’ve had 93 new families join us.” I think that helps explain why few if any of these events occurred in Catholic schools.

Caricatures of perpetual harsh disciplinarians aside, a Nick would have likely found someone who cared well before it blew up into a plot. And likewise for other serious Christian schools.

What security do the children of elites in DC at Sidwell Friends have? That’s probably a good place to start.

Shooters much at some level be thinking that God will surely ZOT them in mid-atrocity.

In a similar way, better security (controlled access, armed guards, teachers/administrators with concealed carry) would eliminate the problem in public schools.

There was a murder by arson in Chicago in 1958 at a Catholic elementary school scores of children killed. The confessed arsonist was a child (troubled but no details in article!) of that school. Since the child was underage no charges filed.
