“Well-Armed School Zone” signs.

It would also be interesting to study whether, how quickly, and how many of the snowflake democrats turn around to become ‘school choice’ advocates!

Just pushing back. If he doesn’t think 18 year olds are mature enough to have and use firearms to kill (not just hunt), then how can he make a case for them in the military as troops?

And someone hopped on me for daring to question a 19 year old in school with minors (as young as 14).

He was held back twice. He could’ve made up time with summer school. When he reached adulthood, he should’ve been out on his own. Let him take night school if he wants or work on his GED from home.

If 18 is too youn to own a gun, then it is also too young to vote. You wish to move the voting age up to 21 as well, we can talk because far more damage is done with votes than guns

I wouldn't mind seeing the voting age upped to 21, by that time many have had to get jobs and are starting to realize their teenage ideals don't match the real world.

“Congress needs to “strengthen 2nd Amendment rights for responsible gun owners”........

I see this as another way to do away with the 2nd Amendment by gradually diluting the original intent of the law. Pick away at one issue , soon another and another, eventually diluting the intent to the point it becomes meaningless. I’d suggest Curbelo withdrawn his plan and create one that address the mental health of potential “would be shooters”

Typical liberal bull $%^t. We give 17 and 18 year olds weapons to fight our wars. If someone is crazy keep them from obtaining a gun, but don’t deprive a law abiding 17 or 18 year old from getting firearms.

On Fox & Friends this morning, it was reported that only 3 of the 10 weapons Cruz had were bought legally. The AR-15 he used to kill the students was illegal. So how would raising the age to purchase AR-15s prevent such school shootings? It wouldn’t.

Unconstitutional on 10th Amendment grounds. The Supreme Court has ruled that gun control is a state matter.

No, no and no!!!

Look at the voting map. The rural area of the nation is solid red. The red area of the nation likes guns. They shoot, they plink, they hunt and they do not massacre children. I am an octogenarian who enjoys going out in the country and shooting. My Dad gave me a 22 rifle when I was 14.

But has this congressman also talked about raising the draft age to 21 (or above) since those 18 year olds “shouldn’t” have access to firearms?

A logical question. If it’s illegal for an 18 year-old to own a rifle, well then it would be totally irresponsible to put them behind the wheel of an FA-18 Hornet carrying an array of smart bombs.

You have to be 21 to purchase a handgun (pistol).

You have to 21 to purchase a shotgun equipped with a “pistol” grip.

I not going to lose sleep over applying this logic to a rifle with a “pistol” grip.

BTW its still legal to posses any of the above when you are 18.

I lead a Trail Life USA boys outdoor adventure unit. They day a boy turns 18, he’s done. Ages out.

We’ve invited a couple to join as adult leaders due to their skills and what they can teach the younger boys. Others we’ve given a hearty handshake goodbye.

The 18 year olds are treated as adults and they have to act as adults. They have certain responsibilities and requirements.

They are under a completely different legal status at that point than they were a couple days earlier.

It is what it is. Due to the way birthdays fall, an 18 year old may still be in high school. (I was)

However, beyond that, GED time. 19 and 20 year olds have no business in schools.
