First I would like to congratulate all the cities that didn’t win. Especially Chicago and San Francisco.

I’m told the only remotely ‘safe place’ is the inner harbor, and that only if you get outta Dodge before dark.

Used to go visit myrailroad lifer great uncle there all the time and touring the historical spots was a big deal.

Now, I dread the possibility of ever having to go there, such as for medical care.

Bizarre bit of trivia: when my dad died, I inherited his “pimpmobile” teal with mauve trim Chevy Blazer.

It had too many issues so I sold it.

During the riots, we got a phone call, telling us “our truck” was illegally parked and we had to come get it.

Apparently there was a screwup with the title transfer but it was, indeed, sitting there in the midst of the riot zone, pimpy as ever and looking freakishly out of place.

My wife is a pro photographer and has been in that cemetery several times in the past few years without any problems. Of course she only shoots there and similar locations in the city in the daytime. She carries a mega bucks Nikon but dresses down in old jeans, faded tees and boots and doesn’t get bothered. She just came back from a few week’s shooting in Israel, Jordan and Egypt and said Baltimore is more dangerous than any place she visited in the Mid East. Two years ago she spent ten days in Havana and environs and said it was the safest place she’s ever been.

“56 killed per 100,000 people”

That is nothing compared to 98 percent black East St Louis Illinois:

“In 2013, the per capita homicide rate in East St. Louis was about 18 times the national average,[30] and had the highest homicide rate of any city in the United States.[31]”

Per capita Baltimore comes out on top. But for sheer volume, Chicago has it beat by 2X. Chicago had 650 murders in 2017 a 15% decline from 2016s 715 ...

(hat tip rashputin)

Liberalism works---achieving exactly what it intended, weakening State and City authority;
b/c "only the Federal Government" can solve the problem.

If you don't collapse the authority and power of States and cities a lot of people, even liberals sucking
on the local tax teat resist when you move authority to Washington, where democracy's political
Nobility are comfortable, entrenched in the swamp, and getting filthy rich on our tax dollars.

Sounds like a good place to send some Marines, and Seals.

Round up the murdering bastards and treat them like terrorists (which is what they are)

Where is the investigative reporting?

The investigative reporting you are referring to would get the reporter fired, as a racist. The relationship is related to no father, gangs substituted for a father, addiction to full that hole in the soul created by no father and not finding another Father as a substitute. Society has no expectation that any young black men will contribute to society. Welfare is the price we pay to keep them captured and in their place. As anyone would, they rebel and revolt in the hope of feeling free. It is an illusion.

but it’s also right across the street from the gates of Hell.

Are your referring to Washington D.C.?

From the link:
USA Today used the nation’s top 50 cities, which omits St. Louis, a city of about 315,000 people that had 205 killings in 2017. St. Louis’ homicide rate of 65 would easily top Baltimore’s rate.

Two good examples of what happens prosecutors and politicians choose criminals over police.

No surprise here. After what the Mayor and DA did to the police officers in the Freddy Gray case, I imagine most BPD officers are cautious about enforcing the law. Why take the chance that doing the job will end up in a court case. Perhaps Baltimore should deputize the BLM.

This is why I don’t own no stinking AR15. I on a AK47. Much more powerful where needed.
