San Carlos on Notice After Blocking a Gun Store Chain from Opening Outlet

Attorneys for a southern California gun store chain have put the city of San Carlos on notice after it was blocked from opening an outlet in the city.

The owners of Turner’s Outdoorsman Gun and Ammo Outlet say they were treated unfairly after the city of San Carlos issued a moratorium on new gun stores.

Many community residents didn’t like the idea of a new gun store opening in town, especially in light of the recent mass shootings happening in the country.

“Every time we have one of these horrific shootings, everyone says ‘No more! It has to stop, we have to do something.’ Doing something productive is not opening more gun stores,” said shopper Suzanne Ortiz.

The letter from the attorney’s representing Outdoorsmen was issued to the San Carlos City attorney on February 16th stating, “Turner’s Outdoorsman has claims against the city of San Carlos for violations related to the issuance of a moratorium.”

San Carlos City Council member, Ron Collins, says the timing of couldn’t be worse.

“When they first made their application it was right after the Las Vegas shooting,” said Collins. “And then a week before our council meeting, there was the Southerland Springs Shooting. And now they’ve sent this letter two days after Parkland.”

Collins says the potential legal action is also unnecessary because San Carlos has not banned the opening of any new gun store.

During a heated city council session in November, members approved a 14-day moratorium and then later extended it to a year.

Since then, owners of Outdoorsmen have taken down advertising signs for an opening that hasn’t happened yet.

NBC Bay Area has reached out to the attorney representing Outdoorsmen and did not receive a response.

Maybe they can change the store to a drug company and pickle more brains in the area.

Great idea, but most of the people’s brains in that area are already quite pickled — they even had a knockdown fights against coffee houses and a hospital (!!!!!!!!) coming there. (Forget the coffee shops, do you Know any other towns that don’t want a hospital?). They’re nuts.

That’s what they get for trying to open a gun store in California.

“That’s what they get for trying to open a gun store in California.”

Yep.

In any case, why would want to open your store in a community that doesn’t want it?

If CA doesn’t want honest law abiding citizens to own guns against illegals and thugs then that’s their choice. Fruits and nuts.

It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is.
