And close “Cop Bars” except for Saturday nights when they take their girl friends out and keep them open on Sunday afternoons for the “family activities with their wives and kids”.
Hard to believe cops can be obese. A bit overweight, who cares, as long as they are strong. But obese?

The times I have been on bases I always see people running. IIRC the military has a fitness requirement or a PT one.
I worked corrections for 28 years, 16 as manager. Every now and then a fitness requirement would be discussed. The bureaucrats in HR and attorneys said we couldn’t impose a standard because obviously people who are fat would get the job done.
IN Cal if a peace officer has a heart attack it is presumed yo be job related. i was overweight and I had a heart attack and returned wth a medical retirement giving tax break and life time insurance guaranteed.

I truly think the word “obesity” is overused. People with more muscle mass will weigh more than the BMI chart allows. Other people can be a bit overweight but not “obese.”
I’m beginning to wonder if this fake “obese” shaming is to get Americans to be skinny helpless victims who are weakened.
(And yes, of course, there are the actual obese, but I do think this term is overused.)
Very sad! For those who are required to sit through a shift, it’s very difficult for them to make themselves exercise afterward. Many of us have been there for one job or another. Don’t like to see them just waiting for heart attacks.
We need to implement healthy diet and endurance exercise programs for them and for everyone else.
When my Father was a NYPD Cop in the 40-60s you had to be in shape and weigh within ten pounds of health statistics.

A friend of ours is a Sheriffs Deputy. She’s about 5’6” and weighs well over 200 pounds. We like her. But let’s just say she doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.
On the other hand she’s a wicked good shot with her service weapon.
