They tried that in the 1970’s and failed with “We just want the handguns, you can keep your rifles & shotguns”. Then Ronald Reagan was elected & the present age of gun rights began.
This latest atrocity is due to massive failures of law enforcement & mental health services and schoolchildren calling Trump nasty sames isn’t going to sway anyone. Sales of AR-15’s are going to spike this week, IMO.

And recall that 1-800-SNITCH hotlines were popular in the 1970’s but were abandoned when it was realized that snitch calls to “report illegal guns” were mostly made by disgruntled neighbors interested in settling scores or punishing their neighbor’s political views or even merely his possessing firearms that were not illegal to own.
Newspapers outing CCW holders is another tactic to reach out & hurt someone. But that can backfire when the editorial staff find their homes & addresses also listed on the internet.

Even though his adoptive parents are now both dead I doubt he was without funds, probably lots of funds.
I’m supportive of meeting liberals half way on this issue. We can cut gun ownership in America by half. All that is required is for liberals to give up their guns. I’m convinced that far more than half of the gun violence would be stopped by this measure as well.
