Really; why remove the death penalty option? He’ll be convicted anyway; it isn’t like he has to be coerced into pleading guilty due to a weak case...
Because he'll be eligible for appeals and won't likely be put to death for probably over 20 years.......I think the average time is 16 years and it's increasing.
There was some guy in Florida named Gary Alvord who spent 40 years on death row before he FINALLY died ---of natural causes.......
If he's not going to be put to death right away, it's a waste of time and money to give him the sentence....

Excellent question. Sure didn’t take Clinton long to convict and do away with Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVey. Why should Cruz get a pass, he is also guilty? The death penalty should be enforced as it just may send a message to other would be shooters and bombers. Can’t see where keeping Cruz alive and costing millions would serve any purpose.
