Shifting the tax burden from income to consumption is absolutely the right thing to do for the economy.

I fully support a Fed Gax Tax hike over additional borrowing. It's the responsible thing to do.

I love regressive taxation.

There goes the additional money people are seeing in their paychecks.

I agree with you, but this isn’t going to happen. The Federal contribution to the Trump infrastructure plan is only $200 billion out of $1.5 trillion. There should be plenty of revenue to cover that $200 billion out of fuel taxes at the current level.

Fine - but funds can’t be used for bike paths, trails and other green garbage. Must be used strictly for highways, bridges, and major roads.

“Regressive” = “Flat” = “Fair”

Drive more efficient vehicles, carpool, plan your trips — these are all ways to minimize these taxes.

People on welfare do not pay income tax. They do have to pay sales/gas taxes.

I am for consumption taxes over income taxes.

If more money is needed for interstates and roads, what is the best way to raise those funds?

It has been 20 years since the federal excise tax was last increased.

The excise tax is collected at the refinery and is by far the most efficient point at which to impose and collect a federal tax to pay for roads, highways and bridges.

What would you propose? No you specifically, everyone reading this question.

Then perhaps the best approach would be to repeal the income tax altogether and replace it with a consumption tax. Not that I will live long enough to see it, but I would favor a Fair Tax over the monstrosity we have now (and seem hell-bent on continuing to make it even worse).

Ha ha ha. Without strong lockbox safeguards this revenue will be collected and repurposed to 'pogrums' for gibsmedats, illegals, and fairies.

The existing fuel tax isn’t used for infrastructure. It goes into the General Fund and pissed away. If you want to feed the swamp, increase fuel taxes.

President Trump endorsed a 25-cent gas tax hike to pay for infrastructure

*************

Is he talking about adding 25 cents to the current 18.4 cent federal gasoline tax
or is he saying raise the current tax form 18.4 to 25 cents?

A large difference.....

Any tax hike is absolute BS so long as we have millions of foreigners swarming in here costing taxpayers a fortune. Did you read Ann Coulters Twitters posts today? She listed just a few of the rip offs........

http://www.telegram.com/news/20160711/worcester-woman-behind-36m-food-stamp-fraud-gets-year-in-jail

https://www.justice.gov/usao-ednc/pr/raleigh-convenient-store-owner-sentenced-78-months-food-stamp-fraud

https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdky/pr/louisville-business-owner-sentenced-33-months-food-stamp-fraud

And look at this one, read this if you want to get ticked off.......

“South Florida reached another fraud milestone for what the Justice Department called “the largest combined financial fraud loss for a food stamp trafficking takedown in history.

That dubious new record, federal prosecutors claim, is $20 million and resulted in a dozen charged with doing the government dirty via food stamp fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

The 12 charged over four cases are Hasan Saleh, 59, Mohammed Alobaisi, 37, Reynold Francois, 38, Ihab Hassouna, 44, Mohammad Alteen, 33, Maria Jerdana, 36, Joe Ann Baker, 56, Yousef “Joe” Homedan Zahran, 60, Omar Hajje, 43, Jalal Hajyousef, 42, Andy Javier Herrera, 24, and father Javier Herrera, 49.”

Why even bother with an unnecessary TAX, in fact All taxes are unnecessary from a funding standpoint. We created a Bank with an unlimited authority to print money that we can borrow in to circulation.
