To many Islanders the reference of Filipino or Portagee is somewhat similar to the southern or version of “redneck”. All are used, very loosely sometimes, along with others. Infact they have some exclusive for the female versions. Much of what is meant by the terms are context related. It can range from par excellence to the basest of insult, all by context and familiarity with the subject. No different than any other slang,. What your close chums say that you is completely different than a stranger or outsider. Gotta love the world, it’s so compartmentalized and yet the same.
