NYPD Commissioner: ‘Insanity’ to Allow National Concealed Carry for Law-Abiding Citizens

New York Police Department commissioner James O’Neill says it is “insanity” to allow national concealed carry reciprocity for law-abiding citizens.

He suggested more guns will only lead to more violence, although a 2012 Congressional Research Service study showed that a massive increase in private gun ownership–from 192 million firearms in 1994 to 310 million firearms in 2009–correlated with sharp drops in crime.

Moreover, the Crime Prevention Research Center (CRPC) has shown that concealed carry permit holders are among the most law-abiding of law-abiding citizens. To highlight how just how law-abiding concealed carriers are CPRC juxtaposed crimes by police versus crimes by concealed carry permit holders. They used Texas permit holders as their sample

NY’s gun control law doesn’t pass that test.

The 10th Amendment gives New York the right to decide that. If the people in New York feel that's too restrictive then they have the right to challenge it in the courts.

O’Neill is a tyrant wannabe in blue clothing.

Or, he hasn’t researched the issue.

Let’s not turn this into a pee on the troopers thing.

Every trooper that I know could give a crap whether you’re carrying or not. Their bosses... different story, but they are really politicians in uniform.

....Sounds like Marxist Bill Deblasio finally found a police commissioner who will agree with his politics....

A common practice of liberal big city politicians.

The 14th Amendment placed limits on states’ rights to abridge the rights of Americans.

The federal bill of rights used to apply only to actions of the federal government before the Civil War.

The 14th Amendment passed after the Civil War made the bill of rights applicable to the states as well, including the 2nd Amendment.

That’s the basis of Heller and why NY’s abridgment of the RKBA is unconstitutional.

Just like it did in FL when they started the new improved CCW laws back in the late 80’s. Tourists gunned down for crappy lane changes. Oh, wait......

Are you insinuating that maybe if they treated people with respect and were polite that they might not have to worry about pissing people off who are carrying? An armed society is a polite society. In ancient times, a Roman Centurion could be executed for doing a tenth of what gets done today to citizens.

Same old crap from the liberals, even though the argument of more legal concealed carry causing more crime and deaths has been proven false every where it has been implemented.

So you're saying that states have no power to place restrictions on the Second Amendment?

>>>So you’re saying that states have no power to place restrictions on the Second Amendment?<<<

The answer is yes. The States have NO POWER to Violate your Constitutional Right to Bear Arms.

Do you think they do?

Sorry bud. It's not the politicians that are arresting people for exercising their constitutional rights. It's the troopers. They deserve the pee.

So states cannot ban the carrying of firearms in prisons and courthouses and schools? Cannot forbid convicted felons or the mentally impaired from owning firearms?

I can second that.

When we first got a gun, everyone in my New York family would call us "gun whackos". One gun!

It took me a long time to get over my fear of guns. Because I was steeped in the propaganda since birth, because you know guns just go off and kill people.

I was never anti-gun, logically. I could always see the need for one, even 20 years ago.
