GOP Rep. Devin Nunes of Calif., chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, may invite Chief Justice John Roberts to testify before the panel on alleged FISA abuses.
Nunes told radio host and Republican wise man Hugh Hewitt Thursday that committee Republicans have entertained the idea, as Roberts appoints all FISA judges, but cautioned no decision has yet been made. Hewitt and Nunes discussed the idea in connection with the committees memo on the secret intelligence courts, which alleged the FBI sought authorization to surveil President Donald Trumps campaign aides on the basis of political opposition research.
Now the chief justice appoints the FISA judges, Hewitt said. Have you had a chance to chat with him or any of the FISA judges about what went on at the FISA court with regard to the [Carter] Page application?

“Invite” is the word here. Epileptic roberts will decline as he should. Nunes should subpoena the FBI agents that submitted the FISA request as well as the copy of the FISA request. This stinks to hell.
Forgot the /s
Congress I superior to SCOTUS since they have the power to remove judges.
Or just lie and lie and LIE; not to mention makeup stuff.
I don’t think that The Chief Justice would have any information other than which judges were appointed to the FISA court for which period in time. So it would be a complete waste of time.
The only way that he would have any knowledge of a particular case would be if it came to him on appeal.
Scotus is not coequal to Congress. It wasn’t written that way in the Constitution. The proof is that if he flips them the finger, Congress can fire him if they choose.
The Supremes on the other hand cannot touch a Congressman.
Furthermore, the Congress can sell the Supreme court building, cut his budget, set his pay, decide what cases he may hear, etc.
Congress may not use it, but it is way more powerful than ANY supreme court justice.
Wont happen but he should also ask if Obongo blackmailed him to get him to change his ACA vote.
Love that pic!
The President can be fired by Congress. The President cannot do anything like that back to Congress in return.
We’re screwed if our case depends on Roberts. He will cave. He can’t handle msm pressure.
I know of no Constitutional exemption from the rule of law for members of the Supreme Court.
OK Freeper legal historians...
Has any member of the SC ever been charged with a crime unrelated to his job?
Are SC justices immune from being called as witnesses to a crime? from jury duty?
Bingo! I was doing research on Mary McCord and her hubby today.
Mary McCord speaks very highly of David Laufman who resigned today. I was digging a little more on this Mary McCord since she also resigned from the Dept of Justice. Check this little tidbit out, She credits her husband, Sheldon Shelly Snook, with carrying the load. Hes also a lawyer and a former longtime administrative assistant for the U.S. District Court. He is now special assistant to the counselor for the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
This is interesting as well, One of McCords enduring memories dates to September 2012, when the Islamic militant group Ansar al-Sharia attacked U.S. compounds in Benghazi, Libya. U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans died in the assault. Then-Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. immediately assigned the case to her office, and she was on the phone briefing him the weekend after it happened on what investigators had learned in the first three days.
I would bet $100 she will be implicated in the corruption soon. It was she, as a career attorney overseeing the high-profile Justice Department probe into potential collusion between associates of President Trump and the Kremlin, who accompanied the acting attorney general, Sally Yates, to the White House to warn the presidents lawyer that the national security adviser was at risk of being blackmailed, according to an individual familiar with the matter.
Yates said she thought it was important to bring a career national security professional. After all, McCord had been the one who was most intimately familiar with the facts, said Yates, who did not name the attorney in congressional testimony. Nor would McCord in an interview confirm or comment on the visit.
Roberts is compromised and he will never admit it publicly.
Ask him why Obamacare mandate was a tax
And why it didnt originate in the House
They got pictures of this guy in Provincetown. Or is it Majorca?
And then there are the children adopted illegally.
Invite is not the key word. Congress has no reason to kiss Roberts ass. Congress created FISA courts and placed Roberts in charge of them. Congress can completely abolish the FISA court in an afternoon if it doesn’t like how Roberts runs them. And Roberts cannot do a thing about it.
So really, Roberts needs to show a little respect and provide some answers to the Congress that oversees, creates, abolishes, and funds all federal courts.
Congress may do anything it wants to all federal courts and judges, except it may not abolish the Supreme court. That’s about it.
You may be onto something there.
Things begin to get really interesting when you check out the birds that flock together. I was trying to find some info on Sheldon Snook, Mary McCords husband when I discovered that he was originally hired by Thomas F. Hogan who spoke highly of him in the WaPo article.
Check this out, Thomas Hogan was a FISA judge, Presiding Judge of the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court
In office
May 19, 2014 May 18, 2016
From the WaPo article linked here, https://www.washingtonpost.com/.../080cbdc4-60f5-11e4...
Hogan recalled agreeing to hire Snook after McCord, his former law clerk, suggested her husband for the job. I thought, Well; if you can recommend him after 12 years of marriage, thats pretty good, Hogan joked.
So, in May of 2017 McCord resigned her position with the Dept. of Justice. Do you suppose she had any pull over the FISA Court since she knew Hogan for a number of years? Oh it is a tangled web they were weaving.
I understand Obama nominates, the Senate approves and Roberts appoints. All eleven FISA judges were nominated by Obama.
