Super Bowl Draws Smallest Audience in Nine Years
Truth Revolt ^ | 2/6/2018 | Mark Tapson

Posted on 02/06/2018 6:17:55 AM PST by Bon of Babble

The game on NBC from Minneapolis pulled in 103.4 million viewers, which is no small potatoes, but that figure is down 7% from the ratings of the previous Super Bowl and the worst since 2009 when the Pittsburgh Steelers-Arizona Cardinals matchup brought in "only" 98.7 million viewers.

"The big game's viewership, although a seemingly astronomical number, was the lowest for the annual event in nine years."

See? Boycotts can work!

Spent a lovely day with my family, not a one of whom so much as mentioned the Super Bowl.

Is it bad that I watched the fourth quarter? In my defense, I didn’t see any of last year’s game.

Our Super Bowl starts now as the falling number of season ticket renewals prove that the Slum Dog Millionaire league is still rolling down hill.

I chose to watch the game, only the second game I saw all season. It was actually quite enjoyable. No one knelt (word must have come down from on high) and the only politics I saw was from a T-Mobile ad that was universally reviled. It shows that if the NFL just sticks to football and leaves the politics for other venues they can present an enjoyable product. Will they learn the lesson? Will the fans return? I guess we’ll know in a few months.

I wonder what could have caused this drop.

Even Rodin's "The Thinker" could kneel forever to contemplate that conundrum and still not solve the puzzle.

Hey, Roger Goodell has made this happen. I just hope that the idiot Liberal FNFL owners are happy with their decision to give that asshat that $200 Million contract extension. It’s going to be very interesting to see their viewership numbers continue to fall in the coming season.

I am committed to continuing to find other things to do with my time and money that does not include the SJW scumbags in the FNFL.

Likely will not change the general prevailing national football mentality one bit!

I can remember when football players were heros. Clean cut, healthy living, good guys of all colors.

Now they are a bunch of thugs who beat women, act like jerks, do drugs and the only example they provide is what you don’t want your kid to be like.

They are ungrateful arrogant jerks and who wants to watch that?

A lower rating despite two teams from two of the biggest TV markets with national fan bases participating.

Lol, and who has that Columbo photo with Columbo trying to find something that ties all the terrorist attacks together? It'd be good to put Columbo on this puzzling question, also. He can handle two dilemmas at once.

I sort of watch the first half, but went to bed early in the 3rd quarter. I just can’t get into them anymore.

The puzzle? You mean the mystery of his lost gym locker key?

Even Columbo needed clues. So far, everyone trying to figure this out is clueless.

You mention Columbo. Around here, Columbo reruns were on an antenna TV station during the SuperBowl.

10th most seen program in US TV history. 103 million people. I think they’re OK with the numbers.

At least something worthwhile was on TV.

Note - from Peter Falk’s personal life:

In his autobiography, Falk told how, as a teenager, he used his glass eye (due to cancer) to get laughs. Once while playing baseball in high school, Falk was called out at third base. “It was a bad call,” Falk said. “I was clearly safe. I knew it and everybody in the stands knew it. They sat so close to the field, they could see and hear everything. In front of everyone, I whipped out my eye and handed it to the umpire: ‘You’ll do better with this one.’”

It’s hard not to like a man with a sense of humor.
