The Arizona man who sold bullets to gunman Stephen Paddock was charged Friday with conspiracy to manufacture and sell armor-piercing ammunition without a license.
Douglas Haig, 55, is the first person to be charged in connection with the Las Vegas shooting investigation. Paddock, 64, killed himself on Oct. 1 after fatally shooting 58 people and wounding hundreds more. Authorities have described him as the lone shooter.
According to a criminal complaint, the FBI determined that two unfired cartridges bearing Haigs fingerprints were found in Paddocks suite at Mandalay Bay, and the cartridges are classified as armor-piercing ammunition.
Court records show that a warrant for Haigs arrest was issued Friday morning by a U.S. magistrate judge in Las Vegas.
Haig appeared in a Phoenix courtroom Friday afternoon, hours after holding a news conference with his lawyer, who told reporters he did not expect his client to face charges.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michelle Burns released Haig on his own recognizance. He must remove all weapons, ammunition and related equipment from his home by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
If convicted, Haig could face up to five years in prison, according to the U.S. attorneys office in Las Vegas.

Finger prints? The FBI? Yea, like the FBI doesn’t try to plant or make up evidence to try at get someone.
Disban the FBI
Had to charge someone with some thing.
Mean time the girl friend is on the loose
So now paddock killed himself?
Says the FBI?
It was so neat of Paddock to shoot himself in the mouth and then lay down in almost a straight line.
Waiting on more info from a credible law enforcement agency.
McCabe
Crime of the century and then almost immediately they leaked homicide scene images allegedly showing Paddock dead, ya knew the investigation had been compromised from day one.
That’s a very narrow definition from the ATF for AP rifle ammo.
This is probably another case of the FBI arresting someone for BS charges and then later dropping them but adding the new “lying to the FBI” charge because of some inconsistency that arises after hours of interrogation.
The FBI needs to be disbanded. The cancer is too deep to fix it.
I think you meant to say the Federal Bureau of Matters.
Padlock the FBI!
BS!
It took them 4 months to do this..?
let me tell you what happened:
the FBI Cartel trundled out the “lone shooter” theory and in the intervening time observed that the hubbub did not die down:
they understood they needed more people arrested so they decided to go after this guy, who probably can be shown to have run afoul of one or two of the myriad gun laws that we have out there and that are constantly changing.
Paddock didn’t trigger a single round, was probably part of a legit government operation to sting Middle Eastern Bad actors, and my guess is we never ever find out about the people who actually pulled this off.
It’s basically Oklahoma City Murrah building but further west, this time.
oh!
and all of the video evidence will soon disappear, just like in Oklahoma City.
WHAT ??
Alarm bells are going off in my head. To start with you can buy that on line. I don't have any, I don't need it. Plus green tip 556 AMMO is more than I want to pay for.
Finger prints? Was this guy loading his magazines for him??
Knowing what I know about our beloved FBI and Federal Government, I would NOT BELIEVE anything they said, and any evidence they put forward I would assume they created out of thin air.
Hmmmm....so, they have their “youtube video maker” guy, eh?
Did they use a dossier by Steele to procure their warrant?
OK, what exactly is the definition of ‘armor-piercing’ ammo?
