The article doesn't say how much, but still rather substantial. Located off 30 miles southeast of the main Mississippi outflow, 100 miles due south of Gulf's Mississippi/Alabama border.

We can all use the good news and expanded oil production, what with gas prices going up this month!

Earlier it was reported that the find was by a French company. Maybe Chevron is French owned?

Any bets they’ll find some WHOPPERS once we start probing the Atlantic seaboard?

eached a total measured depth of 29,194 feet and encountered more than 670 feet of net oil pay

How did dinosaur and fauna remains get to that depth to create oil?

Off shore drilling rigs and wells are amazing fish attractors. The structure of the rig makes for some great fishing. Have a cousin who was a Petroleum engineer and worked off shore in the Gulf from LA. He was always bring some huge fish they had caught to family gatherings.

Fishing and oilies actually coexist well together.

Yup. Lived and worked in the NOLA/Biloxi/Gulfport area for about 18 years. So, I know about the secret fishing at the rigs.

So why the heck is gas still high. Seems almost monthly I read that a new patch has been uncovered, but I never see it in my wallet.

Maybe the same way they got to Titan, and created methane oceans there.
