California father who’s lived in U.S. since he was 2 faces deportation after ICE arrest

LOS ANGELES – Family members are worried about the possible deportation of a 30-year-old father of two who was recently detained by ICE after living in the U.S. since being brought here when he was a toddler.

"ICE is abusing their power. They're doing this all across the nation," Roman Maury said outside a court hearing for Torres on Thursday. " He wasn't doing anything wrong. ... He was dropping his kids off at school."

ICE spokeswoman Lori Haley said Torres was targeted for arrest by deportation officers with ICE's Los Angeles-based fugitive operations team. All ICE arrests are "targeted" and never "random," Haley said.

Haley said in the ICE statement that Torres' criminal history includes DUI and felony narcotics possession.

But Roman Maury said Torres has "a few misdemeanors" and no felony record.

Advocates for Torres say he poses no threat or harm to the community, and Roman Maury said her client has learned from past criminal convictions, which she painted as mistakes of youth.

Torres is the father of a 3- and 7-year-old, and has been living in the U.S. since he was brought here by his grandmother. He hardly speaks any Spanish and has no family in Mexico, Arellano said. He works as a manager at a solar panel company in Chatsworth and is a youth football coach.

PS But maybe I’m worrying about nothing. The `post-civil war amendments’ were passed to protect freed slaves from discrimination in the south.

But even creatures as cynical and dishonest as Democrats wouldn’t twist the 14th to suit their political agenda, would they?

Good news! Would be “excellent” news if they deport all his invading-foreigner relatives and invading-foreigner friends along with him back to the farthest shole...Angola would be acceptable...

The attorney says he hardly speaks any Spanish? I call bullshit, he was brought here at 2 years by his grandma that probably didn't and still doesn't speak English, they use the kids as interpreters.

Also he has had how many years to make himself a legal resident? I guess it was just to damn hard to give a shit, until now that is!

How would Disney react?

People choose jumping the gate at Disney (trespass) without permission to entry. Said individual brings along one or more of his/her children. Would security at Disney hesitate to toss the intruders back over the stiles when detected?

The intruder avoids capture and demands the “right” to remain (illegally). The intruder goes on to open a business (hot dog stand) on the fairway competing against Disney’s own people/businesses. Does Disney have an ounce of pity for the man and his business or does security bounce the trespasser?

After years of hiding among other authorized patrons the child ages, enjoys the facilities, accepts the many pleasures and delights. This poor child now determines being within Disney to be a “right”. Upon discovery, will the cries for sympathy from the child and others prevent Disney from throwing the child back over the stiles?

And finally, is it really wrong or illegal to jump the gate at Disney in the first place if the sob story is heart wrenching enough? The security people at Disney would be real monsters to penalize these children when it wasn’t the child’s fault they are in the park illegally. s/

Try very hard not to post but just could not control my self today.
