We need the heart and conscience to acknowledge that larger America did nod and wink these folks in. Both parties.
People acculturated to the USA at nods and winks should not be thrown into shitholes. If I did that to my house raised cat or dog I might go to jail and it would be vain for me to argue about how many cats and dogs are already there.
I somewhat agree with caveats....the chain migration should be completely stopped for any allowed to stay, no citizenship or voting rights, secure border etc.
We know a gal who speaks and reads English perfectly, has been here since she was very small, has US born kids, US citizen veteran husband, and is a good person with zero criminal history.
She did do all her paperwork, has an itin number, etc and I think is OK no matter what happens but deporting a person like her would be an absolute travesty—possibly enough for me to sit out the next election.
I know people like I described are a rare exception but those exceptions should be treated justly-—and before anyone harps on “the law” again they might want to think about it real hard and see if you are absolutely sure you have never broken a law yourself.
Nonsense. It's not my job to check the green card of everyone building a house for me. Minding ones own business is NOT "wink and nod."
I'll go along with the two parties thing, but "we" as the bulk of the bell curve did NOTHING to encourage nor invite these people to come here.
