A store clerk was fatally shot at an Exxon station in Garland during a robbery about midnight Saturday, police said.

A pedestrian alerted officers on Broadway Boulevard near Oates Road that there was a gunshot victim inside the station, police said. Inside, officers found the clerk, 35-year-old Manish Panday, dead of a gunshot wound.

Garland is a suburb of Dallas, for those who don’t want to have to search for the general location. Pictures at the link, which I probably won’t be able to post with my phone.

Sad. That’s in my general neighborhood, a station I’ve bought gas at when I turned from Oates Road onto Broadway on my way home,

Probably unrelated, but all the political signs along that stretch were cut up last night.

What? They gave a description of the criminals?

I’m shocked.

Young black men - 3% of the population. 50% of the murder.

Sad but why ist his noteworthy outside the area? A C-store clerk gets killed somewhere in the country just about every day if not just about every hour of every day.

I know a guy who works at a convenience store. Relatively-safe area near me but he had a few overnight incidents.

He quit that job. Has come back now under ONE condition: He will NEVER work nights again there. They usually make the person work alone.

I'm not usually up there that late any more.

The State is incapable of conviction and execution of criminals in a timely matter.

And when did we stop with public executions? What was that all about? Who decided on no more public executions? The store clerk was "executed" in public, why not his killers?

If Leroy and Da'quicious saw one of their buddies dangling and twisting in a cool Texas breeze, it might make an impression that goes beyond their limited compression of the English language.
