SEATTLE - If elected officials get their way, the entire West Coast of North America could be putting a price on pollution by the end of this year.
As state legislature sessions opened this month, Washington state Governor Jay Inslee called for a carbon tax and Oregon legislators proposed a cap and invest system.
Both policies are designed to make industrial emitters of carbon dioxide pay some of the costs of damage caused by growing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and to create incentives for them to reduce emissions.
Carbon dioxide emissions are one of the major drivers of human-caused climate change.
If the Washington and Oregon legislatures pass such measures, they would join Californias cap-and-trade system to the south and British Columbias carbon tax to the north. The jurisdictions would be part of a united Pacific front on climate change.
It is time to step up and give our citizens what they demand and deserve and what is the law which is a fight against climate change and the damaging health effects of carbon pollution, Inslee, a Democrat, said in his State of the State speech on January 9.

Climate Change and money. Hmmm. So if there was no such thing as money, there would be no way to solve Climate Change?
Anyway, knock yourselves out, you silly, little nitwits.
I suppose the libs in those states think this will help business in their states.LOL

Punitive taxation and 3rd world status.
Obviously, we need to divorce ourselves from dependence on West Coast products. The most difficult are vegetable products.
Looks like a decent greenhouse in our future.
South and Midwest Bracing for Influx of New Jobs.
There, fixed the headline.
If it weren’t for that 400 ppm of “pollution” in the atmosphere we’d all be dead. MORONS!
West coast politicians: Dear Taxpayers, We really hate you and wish you would leave...
This will kill shipping and transportation to and from the west coast ports.
The Panama canal is going to see a lot more traffic in the near future.
Unfortunately Washington is pretty strong economically so I doubt it will hurt them. Companies like microsoft have so many write offs that this tax will be nothing.
Great, so when the next ice age comes next year we can blame californicate.
